Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.

Oh wow. You even got the little blue line on the bottom of the Fix-a-flat can. That is amazing! This whole build is absolutely stunning.

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.

More scratchbuilding and machining. Been working on the new dash. More specifically lately the gauges. They are Auto Meter. Am working on the internals now. More later... - Mark

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.

I think you need more gauges

I just noticed the smal bevel on the speedo/tach, do the smaller ones have the same style?
Super impressive!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will there be toggle swtiches?

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.

With all those gauges it looks like the dash came off the space shuttle. Looks good. Did I hear correctly, did you say internals for the gauges?

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.

I was originally going to "only" put 6 small gauges in, but I made an extra just in case and found out it fit. Hey, Seven is better for a Seven...
Yes, they are all the same style, more of a radius than a bevel on the bezel. And yes there will be toggle switches (instead of rocker switches). And warning lights and a START button. The dash gets some padding on the lower "legs".
Machined the lenses yesterday, still working on the insides stuff, more pics later.
And "internals" does not mean they will work... - Mark

Serenity Now!

Been watching this for so long, and I just don't have the words to offer as a compliment. It is an amazing accomplishment already. The details never end. Let me know if you ever publish/sell a book on the making of this puppy, cuz I'd gladly buy it.

And let me just say...Thank You for sharing this whole build with us here at AF. I am certain that everyone that reads this post is learning something... (even if it's just an appreciation of what is possible, when you put your mind to it....)

Good luck with the rest of it. (going back to suck my thumb now....)

Murray

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.

What do each of the gauges do, going left to right?

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.

Hi Mark.

Since yesterday I've been reading this thread and the other "parts" threads.

The detail is just amazing but what makes you the most modelling passionate guy I've ever come across is that you build moving parts that will not move in the end and details that will be covered.

That is passion! (or crazyness, but hey... not that different)

Keep it coming, your 7 has managed to grab the attention of even my work colleagues, which are in no way into modelling.

Cheers,

Tiago

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.

Thanks everyone!
The gauges, going right to left, (right hand driver's perspective) will be :
Speedo (w/resetable trip meter), Tach, Vacuum, Water Temp, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, Head Temp, Fuel Level, and Volt Meter. All mechanical except the Volt Meter, Head Temp and Fuel Gauge, which are electrical, but the fuel gauge is a 270 degree sweep like the mechanicals instead of the traditional 90degree sweep of most electrical gauges... - Mark

Scratchbuilt Gauges

Here is the gauge set I made for the Super 7, in no particular order. Auto Meter Ultralite series. Everything is scratchbuilt. I created the gauge faces and the needles are parts, not decals...

Here is a shot of one of the smaller ones and it's lens, (machined from 1/4 inch thick acrylic sheet):

And the "Arm Nitrous" dash switch... - Mark
