I would really love to hear everyone's comments and suggestions. I got kind of bummed out on this thing today. Dont know why, but I could use the motivation anyway.

Holy crap, dude. Your motor looks great! Your frame looks great! Send metal to... wherever metal goes. Your plastic work is far better than you claimed you could do.

Re: ULTIMATE SCRATCHBUILD: 1:12 Hot Rod-Updated 7/27

Heres an quick update. I finished the engine block pretty much today. I built the oil pan. Now I have started the engine mounts, and the design for the mounting arms. The design is the biggest part of the whole project, I still need to double check everything before building the arms.

These are the engine mounts that are attached to the frame. The tube in the middle is part of the arm that goes onto the engine. The entire assembly is bolted together with the brass bolts pictured below.

Here is the beginning design of the engine mount arms.

Please enjoy! I'll have engine pictures tomorrow since my camera died earlier.

I appreciate everyone's comments so far. They really inspire me to work on this thing as hard as I can. Here are some pictures of the "finished" block. I left out some details from the real motor because it cluttered it up. This is a show like street rod, and I would have done the same thing if this were full scale.
It still needs some more sanding, I've only hit it with 220 right now. Once I figure out how I want to build my Gilmer belt drive I will build the timing gears, chain, and cover on the fave of the block. I need to order some small bolts to bolt everything together. Any where you see a deep hole has to be tapped and threaded for a 00-90 bolt. For now, here are the pictures and I hope you enjoy.

Yes, that is a bullet holding the engine up. A 22caliber shell proved to be the correct size to hold up engine while taking pictures.

looks awesome Mike. It'll really come to life once the bolts are added.

Re: ULTIMATE SCRATCHBUILD: 1:12 Hot Rod-Updated 8/3

Of course those timing-gears will have alignment marks? And the correct play ( divided by 12 of course..)between the 2 gears?
Otherwise i will be higly dissappointed
