How did you make that basket? I tried to make one for my Focus and failed terribly, any good tips?

Ray
Hi Ray, haven't been posting much lately, but I'm still around

Made the basket out of some plastic mesh from a Hasegawa Evo IV (another unfinished project, the mesh is ment for the front grill but PE replacements will look much better). Folded it over and taped up the edges with chart tape. Needed to use some super glue to make sure it stayed put. Before glueing it up I ran some nylon thread down the sides and used this to attatch it to the roll cage, again using small drops of super glue to keep it firmy in place.

I'm going to be taking next week off work so I'll finaly get the Lancer finished then, as well as starting on my next project.

Thanks for the comments everybody, here are another couple of pics of the underside, minus wheels and tyres. First without the protective plates, then with, covering up the engine and transmission details.

Just noticed I missed some mold lines on the bottom of the rear shock reservoirs

IIRC, the cover comes as a clear part but when you're going to all the effort of making sure everything is absolutely accurate, it seems weird to leave the sump guard clear.

Yeah as Ray said, the guards in the kit come as clear pieces. However they aren't clear on the real car, rather made of metal or carbon fibre. Since the I want to make an accurate (as possible) replica of the real car, then they have to look like they are made of metal or carbon fibre, not clear plastic.

Thanks for the comments again everybody!

oh...but..but..all the detail!!

why not make it semi-clear, something-opaque maybe -- kinda like the under-side of the Tamiya Clarion R33 Skyline GTR-LM.....

That is a cool idea. You should give it a try yourself!

Finished the clear coating and polishing of the body shell. Also painted the window surrounds black - panel lines, a few more decals, etc still to go.
