Spyke, doing this model I would take advantage of drawing to a floor semi-gloss clear on CF decals. Then there will be a necessary shine and surface protection. It it is necessary puts at all much. Then our layers it is impossible. My translator does awful превод the text. I hope you understand about what I try to tell...

I believe I understand what you are saying, but when I've been spraying the CF decals, they have been bubbling up, and I've been trying a bunch of different methods, but I think its most likely the weather played into it as its too cold still to do any spraying

Re: 2009 Peugeot 908: The Lions roar to Le Mans glory

If you sprayed a varnish directly from airspray gas being in a varnish can dissolve decals. (If you used an example varnish Tamiya) I applied TS 79 which merged from airspray in a glass jar and exhausted gas. I put clearcoat from airbrush several "dry" layers. I did not allow clear to look "wet" at drawing. At such mode of collapse decals will not occur.
I at all do not insist. It only an example from a private experience.

I don't have an airbrush, so I'm kinda out of luck with that, I don't have to place to use a spray brush, maybe some day

more than likely the decals weren't completely dry.

Re: 2009 Peugeot 908: The Lions roar to Le Mans glory

well I've seemed to screw up another kit, while working on the decals, I warped the windows from the heat of the hairdryer and Ko'd them

also, the Decals ARE NOT SIZED CORRECTLY by any means, for those with the kit good luck with it, but this kit is destroyed on my end, I've got to stop screwing up kits and just finish one, one of these days, but I seem to always screw something up majorly to force it to go into the box until I feel up to it again, but this one is shot.

if you guys want a nice 908, get the Minichamps one in 1:18. it sells for about 100 which is half the price of this POS kit and is extremely accurate is is in full CF livery as well from the pictures I've seen.

sorry for all those who were looking forward to see this one done like me, but I learn something new with every kit and thats not to buy from S27 anymore

Its back to some plastic models for me to try and get back to basics in completing a nice kit

cheers,
Steve

Steve,

That sounds bad, but can't you try to rebuild or scratch build the broken area somehow? Patch it, repaint, and redo the decal? No?...

You put lots of effort and hours into this kit, even it doesn't come out 100% perfect, it would be nice to complete the build somehow...

I have ruined many kits too, but I usually end up giving weathered look to hide the imperfection, or turn them into "bang" up race car.

Re: 2009 Peugeot 908: The Lions roar to Le Mans glory

Sorry to hear that! Hope you'll find the patience one day to get back to it. I understand the feeling, being upset about fitment of garage kits ( i have some started ones sitting around that i got too annoyed with at some point as well ). Things like CF-decals bubbling up or ill fitting decals can happen on a plastic kit as well though :-) Good luck with whatever is next!

Re: 2009 Peugeot 908: The Lions roar to Le Mans glory

the 2 side windows basically are destroyed from the heat, they warped,

its not that the decales bubbled or anything, the S27 decals do not fit, especially the big ones on the rear bonnet.

if the kit is too be made, I'd highly suggest the Renaissance kit. I still have 2 S27 kits with the Porsche RS Spyder and the BMW f1.08, but I'm not buying another S27 kit ever lol.

so far, this one isn't coming back to be worked on anytime soon, I've brought back an open wheel car, dont think I'm gonna bother with Wip photos unless you guys would like to see it

cheers

Steve, sorry to hear about the problems. Why don't you bring it for the primer table at the Expo. Some of the builders might give you new ideas on how to fix the problems. Did you talk to Studio 27 about a replacement window?? I agree with you on Studio 27 kits. They also miss alot of details but they are a good starting point most of the time. You would think as much as they charge they would do better research and planning on their kits.

there really is no problems, I know exactly what needs to be done with the kit, I just dont want to see it no more for now I will try and get into contact with S27 for the spare windows.

thanks Tom,

cheers,
Steve
