Re: 2009 Peugeot 908: The Lions roar to Le Mans glory

If I knew Renaissance was gonna be producing this car, I would've waited also, but I didn't lol.

I have noticed a few drawbacks from the pics from the site, your gonna have to bulk up the PE steering wheel, the mirror supports, and a few other pieces, but Renaissance has the kit to open up the windows (or doors ).

plus the blue is more accurate compared to S27's decals

Hey im not saying Renaissance is the better kit but Eittenne seems to put a bit more time into the final details. Though his kits maybe arent as crisp as others and there are shortcomings. His kits also usually are a bit cheaper. Dont get discouraged, your doing a fantastic job!

all the Carbon Fibering..... IS DONE!!!!!!!

next is the Livery and Chrome Decals

gonna take a break from the car and have some whiskey as a accomplishment, this was by far the hardest Carbon Fiber job to date

Cheers,

I don't see any flaws in the cf work.

Good luck with the clear coat if you plan on sealing them.

Looking real good!
Why did you carbonize "everything" incl. the roof and fenders/parts that will be blue, white or silver? - or are you building a test car?

Great Job anyway!

because the whole car was CF. also when the decals conform, when the decals are put down, the chrome and White especially, it will bleed a little and the CF texture will be visible, which looks very cool.

cheers,
Steve

I won't be clearing the car, though I will be giving it a wax coat when completed to give it a more subtle shine.

Great CF job, looks cool so far !!!

IŽd clear the decals, the body looks too glossy IMO

Re: 2009 Peugeot 908: The Lions roar to Le Mans glory

well, after taking a long break, I started a new job late January working mad hours, I had no time to work on this, too tired. I was getting very disturbed and annoyed by the chrome decalsso I wanted to try something new, so I have gone with BMF, and I can't believe that I didn't use this the first time, for everyone with this kit or the Renaissance one, I'd highly say use this instead of the chrome decal, but that is my opinion, I'm not the best modeler here

and now onto a part of the car I have started

this was prolly the main reason I changed my mind with the chrome decals to BMF, the curves are too complex for the S27 chrome and it wrinkles bad, I put the BMF over it and looks way better now, though its sort of dull, it still great

enjoy

I'm glad to be finally talking this project again

cheers,
Steve

Re: 2009 Peugeot 908: The Lions roar to Le Mans glory

Nice, becareful sometimes theres bad batches of bmf or they are just old. The two recent ones i had i coudn't use as they were so brittle they wouldn't even come off the white sheet. Good luck.

I do see your bmf looks good, what to look for is these little cracks in the bmf before you buy. I think ill buy from bmf only.

This is coming along nicely, the BMF does look better. I will also be attending the Ferrari expo next month and I look forward to seeing your 908 there!

Re: 2009 Peugeot 908: The Lions roar to Le Mans glory

After such big work on CF is done, from it and chemistry probably the head goes around.

After I have constructed the Porsche GT1 CF Test, I long could not touch to decals CF. I them simply did not transfer long time!
