But why didn't you get a 2 door Maxima to street race rather then a 4 door? They do make 2 doors right?

In fact, id rather have a fiat than a civic. jeeze, the civic is no power plant. Why is it that the ONLY people who think that are in America? Over in Japan, the TYPE R Civic (apparently a legend in the states) is nothing more than a grocery getter.

Big, yes, boat no. I reserve the term "boat" for fleetwoods and caprices and '93 ford thunderbirds (just kidding TV). But hey, my car only weighs 3200 pounds. And just because a car is stable at high speeds doesn't make it slow. I would highly doubt that a BMW M5 is a bitch to drive at high speeds. And a Civic Type-R a grocery getter? Yeah, if your groceries consist of a 6-pack of amstel light and some pork rinds, because that's about all you can fit in one of those.

Nope, just 4 door "family sedans" and "grocery getters". Plus I didn't get this car in mind with making it a pure racer(keep comments to yourself). I just got interested in it.

lol... yeah, my car is heavy as hell too. I haven't had it weighed at the track yet, but Ive seen other convertible Z's like mine on the internet that weigh anywhere from 3700 to 3900 lbs. My stereo system in the back probably weighs at least 80, and my car is loaded with every option available, so I guess I'm tipping the scales closer to 3900. I'll never put my car on a diet though. I love being comfortable, so I guess I'll just have to compensate with more power.

But, hey, I need it to be small, nimble and lightweight when there's only 130hp at the rear wheels. Thank you, British engineers who made my floorpan out the steel equvalent of crepe paper. Thanks to you my car weighs somewhere between 1900-2200lbs. (even less if I don't weld in new sills soon, I can see the road between my heels when I shift)

Automatics make perfect launches, shift faster than -any- driver, and if shift points are set to exactly right, youll be a hell of alot better than any manual. Unless you want to do auto-x

but an auto will never shift be better than a manual for launching
because the auto shifts much slower than manual
you also lose power unless you have a lockup torque converter
you also cant change the shift points if you mod it or such

autos are nice
but not necassarily faster

hey, powerbraking and neutral-droping rule! Just kidding. An Automatic is good in a race situation because you can't screw up like with a manual. You know, maybe you are so hella nervous and your hands are sweaty that you shift from second straight to fifth. Alright that is a really bad example, but you kind of see my point.

There is a fine line between which is better. When you have a car making assloads of power and torque, the automatic is better hands down. But with cars making around normal power (between 200-300) manual would probably be a better choice, but that REALLY depends on the driver too. A bad driver is going to spin too much or bog at the line and run a shitty 60' time while the auto runs a consistent 2 flat or lower. The first 60' of a race is the most critical because it is the most in-consistent and you can't go wrong with an auto. and a good stall converter. I love my 6spd though, it's 10 times more fun than any auto. (my tires hate me)
