He said they did well in G-stock. Yet no F-body's are present at the Nationals.

you also gotta remember yes in theory a larger displacement engine should make more power, but you gotta look at the way the heads and ports flow. i'm pretty sure a SR20DET would flow more air since it has 16 valves as oppose to having just 12 on the 3.8 liter engine. also the heads on SR's flows very very well. and even though the SR makes 544whp it should make a tq figure very close to it since its a perfectly squared engine. so its tq should still be in the 500's.

Re: Panda 2.0 vs Pontiac Firebird V6
like you said before, post some proof.
i'm not saying that F-body cars aren't fast -the newer v-8 camaros and such have immense point and squirt capability at autoX. In fact, at the last event here (even though it was the same time as nationals so most of our heavy hitters were off winning their classes there ) the top time of day was a prepared camaro! and that thing is FAST i've ridden in it.

As we said before, the SR series engine may be hyped quite a bit, but that's because it is such a capable engine, and it often finds itself in vehicles weighing LESS than 2800 lbs, unlike your 3800 series V6. Now don't get me wrong, I drove a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville for quite a while, and GM's 3.8L is no slouch. They're peppy little engines, but by no means quick. And stop the retarded argument that "Oh they would've dusted you if they were pushing 10 psi too...well they weren't and they lost. Cry about it. So get over the fact that you drive a V6 f-body, and accept the fact that one of your brother vehicles went down.

Re: Panda 2.0 vs Pontiac Firebird V6
ya ....by no means quick....tell that to this guy..I think he knows a little more about engines being quick than any one here...
http://www.camarov6.com/cgi-bin/ulti...&f=10&t=001851 click the link on the post below mine for all the information. This is just to show that this engine has potential unlike most of you think... http://www.mlive.com/news/advancenew...7953692830.xml This is talking about the guy that owns the car. He is a very experienced guy when it comes to cars and their potential I would think...read the article..... |

Re: Panda 2.0 vs Pontiac Firebird V6
Dude, NO ONE is saying the V6 doesn't have potential, they're saying that ANY engine has potential, so to herald the V6 for its potential to be fast (which is considerably less than the V8) is redundant and pointless. Yes, there are V6 F-Bodies that run 11's, there are also 80's Civics and Corolla running 10's. Any car can be fast with enough money, but some take more than others, and the V6 takes a lot more money put into it than the V8 to become a real powerhouse.
