Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
Hey guys, just need something cleared up.
On the first post of this thread, it says the LM's dry weight is 1062Kg. Then in post #11 it says the kerb weight is 1062kg. Which of these figures is correct? Also, any luck finding the gear ratios Peloton? On the LM's wikipedia page, it says its gear ratios are similar to the standard F1 and then lists the ratios, but I don't believe that is the correct information since the gear ratios are shorter. (taken from LM wikipedia page) "The weight was reduced by approximately 60 kg (132 lb) over that of original" There are varying sources as to the weight of the standard road car. On wikipedia it says 1140kg but that contradicts the above information from wikipedia since it says the LM is 1062kg. (78kg less than standard, not 60kg as they state.) So what is the official kerb weight of the standard F1? On wikipedia it says the standard road car hp is 618hp, 627ps. But other sources list it as 636ps, 627hp. Which is correct? Sorry for asking standard road car questions in the LM thread. Thanks, |

95 GTR seat assy fully trimmed, 4.2 KG (give or take a few grams) The seat shell is double skinned carbon using a honeycomb core with a bonded seat base in monolothic carbon. The weight above does not include the seat release/runner assy. Its an extremely comfortable seat to sit in, a lot of time was spent on the seating ergonomics for the driver, but so I have been told, the passenger seats are a little cramped. The passenger seats are not to dissimilar to the concept of the ones in the rear of my BMW 850, even the road cars seat base substrate looks very similar, nought like copying a good idea ![]() |

Passenger seats also very similar to rear seats in a Lotus Elite.

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
The F1's I've had the fortune to sit in had comfortable passenger seats.
Good enough for a long journey? Erik can let you in on that. Good to sit in and relax? Yes. Would I want to sit there in the future? Only if the middle seat was taken.....

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
The ride I had in 007 was quite comfy but lasted only about 20 mins.

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
Okay, here goes - not trying to brag at all but thanks to Simon and his wife's tremendous generosity I spent an entire day last Wednesday inside #007 covering 458.6 kilometers of distance up the Autostrada and through the Dolomites and then back down again. This was while the car was being driven at a very enthusiastic pace the entire time and I have not one complaint to make about any moment of it. The best part about how the passenger seats cradle you is that you are not constantly trying to brace yourself to keep from moving around when the road gets twisty - I don't think there was ever one time where I used the grab handle in the side of the door even. You are simply held in place. Perhaps a larger person would feel differently about the level of comfort but I am fairly average in stature and weight and I had no issue.
Afterwards I wasn't feeling the least bit uncomfortable and I was back in the same seat for the morning drive the next day and then did the afternoon stint in #062. They are really great cars to travel in, even if you don't get the important seat. My appreciation for the car only grew more and more from this awesome adventure I just completed in Italy. To be able to see what the F1 could do under nearly every condition you could imagine from putting along through the city to storming the highway to tackling the tight turns - it never missed a step. >8^) ER |

Erik, how about noise inside? Is it loud at every revs, or it's like nice old Porsches, which had nice noise isolation at low revs and then were ferocius at high speed?

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
Many thanks for your insights guys, the info I was given come from an owner, guess it all depends on what size/shape the passengers are.
