Re: 1/24 Revell Corvette C6R
Great build diary, and I'm also amazed how clean it is with all the little details.

Re: 1/24 Revell Corvette C6R
Appreciate all of your supportive comments!
![]() I thought all I have left is to make "small" details to fully complete this kit, but it ended up taking another 4 hours to just build the window frames. I should share what I went through- hopefully it will give more options for those who want to build this kit. SMS includes a clear film for the windows. This is definitely a big plus to enhance the sharpness of the kit, but unfortunately, I ended up ruining the set when I was trying to "glue" the window to the frame. And the biggest problem for me was fingerprints; once the film gets little bit of fingerprints, you won't be able to get it out. And worse of all, any liquid will leave "marks" on the film not allowing you to clean your prints. ![]() Trying to find another way to attach the window, I have decided to make my own window out of 3M transparency films. ![]() Soaked the existing window frames in "paint thinner" to remove the current paint. Good thing the frames are metal parts- see what happens if you leave the plastic part little too long! This "was" my rear wing. I ended up making another one later.![]() Painted and drilled holes according to the rivet positions. ![]() At least 10+ copies were made by me, and I managed ruin every single one of them. They are very prone to scratch and my oily fingers did not help to keep them nice and clean. Cutting the inner air flow area was also tough and it really tested your patience... ![]() ![]() Using a 0.7mm rivets and washers, I was able to hold the transparent film in place without ever using any glue on the transparency film. I did use epoxy glue on the washer to hold the rivets though. After spending 4 hours and lots of cursing bad words, I was able to assemble the window frames... Thanks again for following up the build progress. I didn't go crazy with the build, I just wanted to use SMS kit to enhance the Revell kit, but didn't think it was this hard... Still work to do... I cannot believe it. I still need to make the fuel tank door on the rear panel and paint the side "blinkers". I doubt these guys use blinkers when they race, but they are there and I will paint them! And if you look at the rear caliper carefully, you will notice that they are not correctly seated... Nonetheless, I hope to bring this to the Ferrari Expo event this year. We'll see you there! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: 1/24 Revell Corvette C6R
The shape of those window frame is a bit odd!? :-) Your time and effort was really worth it though. The windows and all those rivets look sharp! It's like you say....these things only look like little add ons but they can take incredible amounts of time...
