Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Macio..... the work is very nice but those front fenders, without a decent putty work... there's areason if you didn't glued togheter and applied putty before? I see ever those JGTC NSX and Z ever without a good job on fenders: shame: it keep eyes. Hopefully you'll see criticism to the right side

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Gionc - you are perfectly right about putying fenders. It may sound funny but...
I have started this model lots time ago and proceeded according to Tamiya manual (which is wrong in this aspect). And I forgot about it.
I realised that fenders are wrong when body was painted, cleared and partialy decaled. I have considered to strip body off but in the very end I gave up.

Lesson learned.

Thanks

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Quick one...
Cables done, doors carbonated . Next steps - finish roll cage and glue all together

How did you make the sockets for the cable?

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

At the beginnig I thought to replace sockets with Top Studio ones. I decided to make it quicker (I want to finish this d...ed NSX).
I cut part of the socket (0,5 mm) and in this place I glued cable with epoxy glue. I made a little blob of glue to make it more realistic. The rest is painting and weathering to look more like "real" sockets.

Painting: semi black, colour (yellow, orange, greeen), gold leaf (socket)
Wetahering: Smoke. Then I used Tamiya weathering sets: gun metall, soot

It came out not that bad in my opinion.

I have toned down all of the boxes, cables both with soot and gun metall

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Interior is done (well, still roll cage is in progress). Seat belts are made of green ribbon (thanks Stevensky!) painted with Park Green. Color match is ok, picture is maybe a bit over exposured.

I added simplified steering shaft and hydraulic cables (left upper corner).

Roll cage is painted with mix of Alclads - stainless steel and jet exhaust

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

These have never really appealed to me, but the way you have put this together really makes me like this one! I wouldnt mind building one now.

Did you make modifications to the front bumper with the aero pieces or is that box stock?

I like it! ...and the roll cage too.
Andy

You have some serious talent.

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Thanks...

The only modification to the front bumber is a mesh (Studio27), the rest is box stock.

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Air intake finished. I have modified it as in the kit the intake (toward front of the car) is open which is opposite to the real car.
Decaled with Modeler's carbon and clear coated with Gunze CL184
