Never messed that much myself with barton cores, had one for a short while but sold it soon after to upgrade to a socket 939 so I never really had a chance to mess with it. With the old palomino/throurogbred cores it required you to short the L1 bridge on the cpu itself. It used to be easy, it only required a led pencil to draw a conductive bridge. Ofcouse they got smart and amd installed a ground line to bleed off any attempts to short the L1. ofcourse the answer was to coat the line with an insulator and draw the conductive line over it. maybe they just gave up and unlocked all the bartons, never checked that up on that generation.

Re: Cruising with a Mac
Even if I wanted to buy it, I don't have $2,300 sitting around.

Re: Cruising with a Mac
for someone with btoh mac and pc i thought i'd offer a neutral opinion. i have a G5 iMac
I use pc at work and for any work related things and mac for everything else and i have to say, it's worked well for only one reason all computers are shit. they all have their problems and bugs. it all comes down to what u're used to i hate one button mouse on mac, it's fucking retarded. so i bought i a two button scroll mouse same as one on my work laptop and it works as per usual. but ppl saying how macs don't crash and no virus and super fast with everything. it's true to some degree. my mac has only crashed once. although, mac has it on top of pc is that it's ram is handled much better so i reboot my mac once every 2 month (whcis is hardly necessary) and it doesn't get any slower. and i use it every day. but really, it all comes down to what ur used to. For about the first 8 months i used mac, it pissed me off on a daily basis. and u can't work with mac, office for mac 2004 is so shit., microsoft deliberately made it so shit. fucking bastards hahahaha

Re: Cruising with a Mac
Last time i used a mac was in elementary school, all my other schools used the old dells, from the local navy base and powerplant so they where more than obsolete. One thing i was talking to my uncle about was that for 10 years computers were all about the same 500mhz was considered good and 800 was ungodly then all of a sudden it was like 1200mhz, then 2500 and now where they are today in like 5 years. When i was looking for a laptop i spent 3 months reserching different brands models cores and well everything about them. I knew that i wanted the amd, and as i was getting ready to buy the amd 64 was released so i went back to research.
I found the one i use on HP.com, i got a 3500 amd 64 processor, 100gb hardrive, lightscribe dvd/cd burner, 1gb of ram, i think its an ati 128mb video card (i hate laptop cards cant do anything with video games). Then i have the 15.7 lcd, and some other fun stuff it was like 1300 after shipping. Same setup on a toshiba was close to 2000. I love this little laptop it runs great and i have seriously loaded the hardrive to its limit, i have 2 external ones a 40gig and a 120gig. Im waiting to see the new advances since like said it has slowed down and will probably stay like this for a while.

Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota. Cardomain |
