whats gotten into you?

i'm just playin man. but i tell ya
i've killed an evo in the freeway and an sti, but the m3 i raced gave me a run for my money, let alone a ricer was driving it, so possibly better driver could have even it out or killed me.

not taking anything away from the sti or evo, but unless there modded, there highway speed isnt that great. but there amazing at low speeds, or city racing
I totally fully agree here. Man! What's gotten into those brains of yrs.

Knock, knock. WAIK UP!

lol, seriously though.

Anyhow, I would say this is a pointless argument.. but it is a refreshing change from US vs. Japanese.

Me? I'd rather have an Evo. I couldnt care less about the "sexyness" factor, however.. slapping on some skid plates and some mud tires, I can go have fun in the back roads. And then pull up to a girls house and take her and 3 friends out for the night.
I have a perfect example (and alot more infact) of that too. I was hanging around with a friend and his girl. He was with his dads car; 3000gt vr4. She still liked mine mores then the one of her friends dad. I was like "are kidding me"!

It really is a great car that vr4. Black chrome with some aftermarket 5 spoke rims. It's just simply georgious compared to my little bmw. But she was judging it with way other prioreties then real carlovers. F.e the name BMW raises girls heads towards me in conversations about cars and mine in particular with girls around.

But to be honest i never abused it. And the girl i'm going with now never chose me because of my car. She only got to know about her and my carloving passion after one month.

Re: Re: Screw an M3, I'm gettin me an EVO

I'm sorry. I would gladly trade in my Evo for an E46 M3 if I could afford it, but there's no way on God's green earth that a high compression, high revving, inline 6 E46 M3 takes to forced induction better than the 4G63. Without a complete rebuild the E46 can't even safely push more than 10psi. On the other hand you can pump almost 35psi through the Evo's engine before you need to upgrade any of the internals - and even then we're just talking about the heads.

There's also no comparison between a factory turbo'd block and a factory N/A block when you start bumping up the boost. I'd also like to point out that the Evo outhandles the M3, E36 or E46, and beats it to 100mph. The M3 is an amazing balance of power, handling and luxury...maybe the best in the world...but it doesn't blow away the Evo until you get up to autobahn-ish speeds. I know a few people who've sold either an E36 M3 or E46 M3 for an Evo or STi and all of them say the only sacrifice in performance is at high speeds out on the open roads. In my opinion the Evo and STi are the poor man's M3...if you can call a $30K car a poor man's ride.

good point there. and an evo or sti is certainly better for trackdays and auto X events i believe. Also it's a matter of preference and taste.

If i had to choose it would be the M3, because of my experience with the brand, the love for the brand, the love for the M3, the love for the sound that it makes,....

but that's just me.

Re: Screw an M3, I'm gettin me an EVO

too bad the M3 has a faster 0-60 and 0-100 time than the Evo VIII stock v stock
60ft is all the evo beats the M3 on...and i wonder why that is...maybe because yo ucan drop the clutch at 4000RPM and not brake traction...
dont beleivem e, i did a car comparo in the car comparison form....

Re: Screw an M3, I'm gettin me an EVO

PS
i think some of these people need to get off of their Evo Fetish... a great car for the money and easily can be made to walk on an M3 with some boost modifications (35psi my ass) and exaust modifiations...but stock for stock the M3 is the superior car in almost all aspects... power to weight, handleing (AWD's tend to either understeer or drift, or at least the STi i drove did), top end, 0-60, probably 60-0 too...

Yeah I read the thread you started...

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t448285.html

Did you start that whole thread just to disprove what I posted earlier? You could have just talked about it in here. That's what forums are for, you know. Anyways whatever bro. You're fixated on bashing Evos even though nobody in their right mind would ever call it a better car than an E46 M3. I know I didn't and wouldn't.

My Evo RS is rated at 4.3 seconds for 0-60mph and 0-100 in about 12 second IIRC. The M3 numbers I saw were 0-60mph is 4.6 seconds and 0-100mph in about 12 seconds also. To be honest I don't even care. I'm arguing Evo vs. M3 with a guy that drives a Mazda pickup truck.

Re: Screw an M3, I'm gettin me an EVO

just buy the 11 sec used ones for about $30,000-ish dollars, i'd rather have a 11 sec used car than a 13 sec new car (in this case, the corvette and the evo)

may i sugguest case closed (-.-)

You must have an automatic. If you drop the clutch on an Evo at 4K, all you'll do is bog. Dropping is no good by itself, also. Best street launch is at 5K, with a good, gradual, clutch slip-to-grip.
