Poll - What is your Metro's Gas Mileage?

My 94 3dr 1.0L 5sp 63,000 miles:

My drive to school and back five days a week is 58 miles round trip - all 45mph, only 6 stop lights, cruise control, fifth gear all the way. I average 52.6 mpg on school driving only.

If I get on the interstate for a trip, my mileage falls to around 44-47. I'm leaning on the gas pedal much more on the interstate, so I'm not surprised by the drop. My cruise control hasn't improved my highway mpg any, just made it more comfortable.

hey where did you get your cruise control? How much was it? Did you install it yourself? I would really like to have one for my 97 1.0 5-speed standard.

Leave it to Irk. He's got it going on. ...just read the link you sent and 'elfiso' gives good instructions and good pictures. I'll have to go over them again before I install. Thanks a bunch. Hello again everyone! I got a much more accurate mpg reading my last fill-up. After doing mostly city driving on my last tank of gas, my car got about 39.96 MPG, in the northern bay area in California, in mostly stop and go traffic, which is really good!

Just thought I'd update all of you on the MPG of my car!

Comments - 5 speed, on 175/70R13s (so actual MPGs may be higher), Driving highway speeds mostly on fairly steep hills. Tools in back, so when they are removed, MPGs may increase. Also: both front wheel bearings are bad.

lol with my 96 1.3 metro 5speed im lucky to get 20MPG if i keep it under 3k rpm for an entire tank i get about 120-140 miles. with lead foot i get about 100 miles to a tank. only thing wrong with motor is the exhaust manafold is split in half weld'd it back up with a solid double bead and now its splitting in a diff direction. and a oil change every 3k miles(synthetic) lol i dont like letting it go for the 20k miles and i get it for like 2 bucks a bottle at work so lol cost the same as castrol GTX highmilage oil. gettin a new motor for it though

I'm getting on average approx 42 MPG (94 4-Dr Metro, 3Cyl, 5 Speed manual) around the city....Alot of Hills in my area.....45+ MPG on the Hwy driving.

1990 Metro 3 cyl. I go an average of 65 to 70 mph on a 60 mile round trip 5 days/week I get around 35-40 mpg depending on the wind, live in North Dakota so every other day the wind is about 10-15 mph or more. I also go through oil I'ld say 1 quart per 400 miles.

Two weeks ago, I took a trip from Las Vegas, NV to Rancho Cucamonga, Ca in my recently bought 94' XFi. This is aproximately 225 miles one way. I made it there with a little over half a tank left. I figure I was getting MPG's in the 40's. (I didn't do the exact calculations). When I returned home to Vegas I found that 3 vacuum hoses were disconnected. Since reconnecting them, my Metro seems to have more power and even better mileage. I'm going back to Cali (Cali,Cali) next week and this time I will keep track of the mileage and repost it here. Something I learned, always check your vacuum hoses after your mechanic does an emmissions test.

90,000 miles on car. 6,000 feet elevation. Base timing set to 10 degrees. Recent JDM enginne replacement w/unknown mileage. Warm engine compression test - 160 psi, all 3 cylinders. Intermittent DTC 51 - EGR malfunction. Running great otherwise.

I have never beat the crap out of anything as hard as I drive this car. It puts up with it superbly. Well maintained and all - but I drive this car HARD. WOT everywhere I go, high-rev shifts, and I get around much quicker than I would if I were to baby my caprice to hope to approach 15mpg.

i have a 95 geo metro lsi 4 door with a 1.3 4 cylinder an 5 speed tranny. i get about 27 in city with ac on an 40 on highway with ac. check engine light is on... says its o2 sensor. gotta change it an see if it helps. hope to get my mileage up. use premium only.
