How many miles do you get per full tank?

This is interesting... I took the liberty of checking the stats of the thread so far and found the following for 11 gallon tanks, mostly at 50/50 city/hwy driving:

ROUGHLY:
33% of Civics do under 250 miles per tank (under23mpg)
33% of Civics do 250 to 300 miles per tank
(23-27mpg)
33% of Civics get 300+ miles per tank
(27+ mpg)

What does this mean??? Also, it seems many of the under 23mpg cars are EXs, mostly 95-99?

Under 100% city driving conditions, my stock 98 EX makes 20 mpg in very high Mexico City altitude. This might actually be normal....???

For fairness I do sometimes cant get over 200 miles per tank in my civic if I drive aggressive or whenever its raining and start skidding on a empty parking lot which is very fun. Right now the civic has 280 miles and still has 1/8 tank left cause gas is too high so saving mileage.

I used to knock down 27 mpg with spirited city driving and about 30 on the highway, now that I put a gsr motor in my car I have gotten 34 mpg on the highway, but I cant seem to keep my foot out of it during in town driving and am usually down around the 24 mpg range

haha.. this is all dandy... but how many of you actually fill your tanks up now or tend to drive less with gas prices going up..... here its like 2.89 for premium... but you know what.. when you got the need for speed and love driving then who cares about gas prices.. but then again... that just means less money for me to spend on my car.. especially when it costs $30 to filler up

Hello all, In my 2000 Civic DX (auto) iget 320per tank 10gallons.
I drive from tracy CA to Sanjose about 50 miles ea way. (87 octane)

In my 1988 CRX Si (manual) I get between 380-400 miles per tank.
CRX has 243,000miles on it! OG engine! No mods just a missing air filter at the moment.

I usually get 300-325 miles to a tank.
Mixed driving, sometimes feeway, sometimes city
Sometimes it gets driven hard, other times gentle
But I use 325 as my drop dead mark.
I have to use premium, 91 octane. Usually Chevron.

i thought that the 93 octain wasnt good for smaller engine because it burned hotter. o well.
with my 98 civic Ex im only geting about 250 miles with 86 octain. i guess i must have a lead foot cuz i caint figure it out

Anything over 87 is a waste of money. All 93 octane does is make a tank of gas more expensive.

No matter how much work you do on your Civic, it's still a 4-banger and wishing on a star ain't gonna turn it into a Bugatti. At best, all high-octane does is cost extra and do nothing for you. At worst, over time it can actually harm your valves and piston heads.
It's good to see about half the people on here know that, at least.

Kafziel, you need to read up buddy. Some people have to use 93 octane gas. My engine calls for premium. What does my engine get? PREMIUM! The reason for this is it has 10 to 1 compression. It doesnt matter if it has 4 cylinders or a thousand. If you have high compression high octane gas will help stop knock.


But yes, you don't really need it on a basic civic engine.

On Regular on a stock 96 Civic EX. I usually get around 180 miles on half tank (somewhere around 11 gallon tank). That's with A/C, I drive it average with 50/50 city/highway driving. So I get around 30 mpg on it. After I get done with the gas I currently have in my tank, I'm gonna put a full tank of premium in it for kicks.

OF COURSE some engines call for premium, but not stock Civic engines. This IS a Civic forum, is it not? And I think it's fair to say that most Civic drivers drive Civics with Civic engines. That's what makes them Civics. And 87 is the only gas to use.
