Re: Does vtec work in reverse?
Not buying it. In my friends ek b16a I can hear it. In my moms 05 accord I can hear it. But not in a SOHC civ. I have an SOHC so do a few friends you cant hear jack. And if you do think your hearing somthing its just the intake and exhaust. But certainly not the vtec "Kicking in". Vtec on SOHC is a joke really. I'd rather have a DOHC non vtec, like a b18c .

Re: Does vtec work in reverse?
ok, I know I dont know anything about CVTC, but I thought it was continuously variable cam timing without any crossover point, like i-vtec without any crossover.
and I worked on it for 41 hours no sleep finishing my engine build and dropping it in and then went to get an oil filter and fell asleep about 1/2 mile from my house on the way home, I was SO CLOSE.

Re: Does vtec work in reverse?
No, it's variable valve timing just like VTEC, but it is continous. What really makes all the noise is my IM. There is a second set of shorter runners. A valve opens up at about 5200 rpm and it really kicks. I think GSR's have that too don't they.

Re: Does vtec work in reverse?
yeah, the GSRs IM has the butterflies also. so if it is continuous its only the adjustable cam timing right? not an actual crossover to another set of lobes like hondas VTEC, because that part of it couldnt be continuous.

Re: Does vtec work in reverse?
no, there is no crossover to another set of lobes. just talking out my poopy. It all depends on throttle position, vehicle speed and engine rpm and adjusts the valve timing

no way
i drive a crx with a b16 swap. i've had a couple tegs, and a del sol si. there is no way you can hear vtec in a sohc vtec. i tried every which way to hear it and i couldnt. i'd much rather drive a dohc non vtec than a single cam vtec. the single cam is pretty much just a joke, i'm working on a 93 2-door civic now, and dropping in a sohc, but thats only so i can move the car around while building it. i consider sohc's temporary motors, motors that are only used to move the car from point a- to point b- between "real" motors are swapped in. the bottom line is, d series are pretty weak motors. i love my b16. i thought about maybe going out and trying that reverse thing, but then i figured i'd be the jackass who wrecked his car, so fuck it. i honestly think vtec would hit, i dont see any reason why it wouldnt.
if who-ever claims they can hear vtec in there sohc motor actually thinks they can, prove it by being the person to test out the experiment. oh yea, no matter whats in it or however its design tries to rip off hondas genius invention(vtec) , sentras just plain blow. so does ford with that stupid Zetec crap, idk what they were shooting for there but i'm assuming its not that great. |

Re: Does vtec work in reverse?
sorry, but it's not Honda's invention. I believe BMW or Porsche had the same technology way before the first VTEC engine made it's way into a honda.

sounds like someones just a little salty about the nissan comment. notice he didnt try to argue that sentras blow, he just tried to say honda didnt invent vtec. i'm gonna have to look up and see what model porsche had the vtec in it. i'll get right on that.

You won't find anything about Porsche's having VTEC. What you will find though, is Porsche using Variable Valve Timing technology. BMW uses the same technology; It's called Vanos. Nissan uses the same technology; It's called CVCT. Toyota uses the same technology; It's called VVT(L)-i Stop crossreferencing the name VTEC under other car manufacturers. They do NOT have VTEC. Sentras do not blow. Carrrnutt can argue that easily. And I guarantee he'll win.

BTW: whether Sentras blow or not is your opinion. I could really care less what you think seeing as how I remember you getting toasted by a stock LS Integra in the TOP END.

i'm actually using the acronym VTEC for the tecnology in my motor.
i'm guessing maybe you have a sentra parked in your driveway too. sorry man, sentras just dont do anything for me. anyone can argue about car and make a good case for it, but u know what? it all boils down to personaly preference, and mine just so happens to be hondas, mainly crx's and hatchies. just out of curiousty, what do u drive?

Re: Does vtec work in reverse?
lol, don't even try to save face. It's fanboys like you who think every other car except their's is a piece of shit that makes this whole scene look bad.
