Outstanding work you are doing on this kit.
You got the hang of the lathe fast enough then

Wants me withdraw. Willimo I feel with you, looking at the details makes me want to start all over again (damn, I wish I was born with tools instead of hands )

This is an awesome build. I'm going to go back through and re-read it from the beginning. Excellent work. Your pics speak volumes!!

Thanks Steve, Lathes are good fun aren't they?

I've finally painted the body over the weekend. The Tamiya TS-37 comes out nothing like the Cartograf decals.
I ended up mixing my own colour by adding TS-47 (Chrome Yellow) and TS-8 (Italian Red) with TS-37. So far so good. I'll hopefully polish the paint this week and post some more pics then. My idea of putting the original decals on first, then masking the paint borders worked fantastic.
When I removed the masking tape the old decals peeled off as well leaving a perfect line! I don't know if I'll do it again as it would get pretty expensive buying two decal sheets each time.

I might actually finish this soon?
Thanks
Rob

A quick update:
Painting finished and decals are going on.

I got distracted by my TRD 300GT but hopefully this will be finished very soon!

'scuse the accusation, but is there a reason the dashboard is white? Do you have a decal for that?

Rob this is still looking amazing.

Don't worry Nick, It's not finished yet. I've got CF decals but some of my reference photo's suggest that the dash was covered in a carpet like non-reflective material. I was going to flock it and then spray matt clear?

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: Jaguar XJR-9LM - Progress

Just flicking though my copy of Jaguar XJR Group C & GTP Cars by Ian Bamsley (best book on the subject IMHO, but long out of print). Looks like the dash face is carbon (much smaller, rougher weave than the main tub). The top of the dash is a flat, non-reflective finish, but isn't a flocked finish like alcantara. Looks more like a flat paint to me... at least it would in 1:24.

Very impressed with this build. Looks real nice!

Have you considered using SMS's Faux Fabric. I would think using flock would result in the flocking being too big.

Thanks for the tip! You don't happen to have a pic of the dash top to see which carbon decal to use??

It's turning into a real beauty. Nice tip on replicating tire wear. Cheers.
