racer1, can you cast that rubber?
if so, why not make a "hybrid" wheel with a core cast of resin to get the stability and then cast some rubber around it to get the correct shape, smell and feel of a rubber tyre? just one that doesn't sag with the weight of the car on it?

Rubber tyres will often perish and distort over time, especially if the model is very heavy. I know pro modellers that will not use rubber tyres on models over 1/12th scale because of this and it's why I'm also using resin!

What about scuffing up the inside of the tires(if possible) and using a layer of fibreglass resin, or something similar..thinned enough to coat the inside and add strength?

There are diff.rubbers for making tyres,you can take contact with the firm.

There are so many different resin,i dont know what i can use for the rubbers.

You must have the hardest rubber.
Then I can give you the order number.

The best you can order for making the tires in rubber is:

PMC 780DRY rubber
Solvent:easy release 200
The rubber is transparant of color you also need: so-strong black.

Hi,
i have continued with my capri project.
i have changed my plans to make every body part as it own part and switched to make a complete body from one part.
I think its too much work to rebuild the body with every single body part.
Now i will do one complete body and cut the stuff out that i want to show.
So i began to change some of my recent work.





Changed the depth of the wheel houses to make it possible to make a mould with silicon.
Make foot boards for every side of the body.
I also will make the air intake grills at all parts of the body ready for moulding.

Thats all for now.A lot of work still to do!

Hello!
Some small progress with the capri.
I made some templates for the windows.I can use them on both sides and so there is everything identical.
I also milled the areas for the fences.I bought some plastic triangular fillets and will make the airhoods.





Next will be the rain gutter for the roof and the grills.
After that,i make an priming coat to control the body.

Hiho!

Here are the masterbody,nearly 99% finished.
I only must do some small putty work.
The rear spoiler is not glued to the body.He will be an extra part.
Some small holes and some lines needs some re-work.
Here are the pics.











If someones find some parts that doesent look right,just let me know please!
Now i can make some changes.When i make the mould its too late.
