Thats not really extreme beating times. More like equal.. The same extreme I raced beat an 02 gti .....I doubt you could come close to that. It was hard to keep up to them for me

first off i never said a damn thing about who's truck was more rare...now if you had a syclone that would be a different story

second off i dont have my xtreme anymore...if you would read what i wrote closely you would see "Oh yeah my Xtreme i HAD ran a 15.7 BONE STOCK"

I now have a slightly modified Syclone which runs consistant mid 12's...fast enough to put a few buslengths on your SS up to 60mph

You gonna tell me your SS that they made 5 years in a row in 3 different colors is more rare than mine now?

Oh and my Xtreme was a 99...back when they made the xtremes only in victory red, onxy black and summit white...with the 4.3 and 5 speed and stepside bed...maybe mine would of been worht more since its more rare?

And all the crappy SS's we race...yeah thats what they are! They must not have as good of engines as yours does or maybe they just dont know how to drive??? "THEY ARE ALL AUTO's MORON!" anyone who is tall enough to see over the dash and reach the pedels can torque break a truck to 2 grand and hit the gas its not like they are 20 year old cars with 200,000 miles on em and are burning oil and have 5 inch fart cans

All you losers that have S10's/15's are idiots if you think dey are fast.
Any Sy/Ty will destroy any other truck EXCEPT a last gen Lightning.
In fact, Sy/Ty will destroy almost any car on the street...think about it,
AWD (not 4x4!), massively tourqey turbo 4.3, long gear auto...just mash and go. At my favorite drag strip (Kil-Kare Speedway, Xenia, Ohio), on any given Thursday night Test-n-Tune, I get to see a certain Syclone with less than $1k in mods pull under 11 (usually closer to 10.5s) EVERY TIME. I see numerous Lightnings getting similar times with slicks. No S!) I have never seen trucks that fast except for those crazy rednecks with big-blocks in their little trucks. Sy/Ty's have some of the fastest 60ft. times on the whole grid. And the SS vs. Xtreme...don't you morons see they are exactly the same truck? HELLO!!! The Xtreme was simply the evolution of the SS because people wanted options. Personally, I believe the Xtreme is better because it looks cooler and YOU CAN GET IT ANY WAY YOU WANT!!!
If you think I don't know what I'm talking about, don't try me...
I drive an 88 S10 2.5FI ( "Iron Duke") 5spd., and I guarantee it is the SLOWEST truck represented in this forum...so HA!!! I lose every time.

Somewhere in here, someone said something about a Camaro (SS?)
getting 14.3 in the q. WHAT? Since the introduction of the last gen of Camaro/F-bird, GM tuned the Z28/TA for 100mph in the q. This translates to 14.0 seconds on average. The SS was tuned for 105 in the q. So, sure you might have seen a 14.3...maybe that person was unfamiliar with drag racing, maybe they had 600lbs of stereo in the back, maybe their car just sucks (like my truck). WHAT? Any normal or mostly normal small-size pickup (save Sy/Ty) will never touch a V-8 Camaro ( or any Cam/Fbird with a 3800, for that matter). That's just silly. Silly like the immature people who keep posting about how fast their trucks are. There are only 2 fast trucks, GET IT? GOT ONE? Then we would like to hear about it. Would you like me to describe my truck and it's experience to you. IT"S SLOW!!! Painfully. I estimate a 19.0 @ 61mph, and I am going to race on Thursday now that I know I can prove I have the slowest truck here. (BTW, maximum indicated speed since I have owned this vehicle for 4 weeks is 72mph.) If you wanna feel like you are going faster than everyone else, go out and get you a motorcycle (the anti-truck), I recommend a Hayabusa. Do you little dudes with hard-ons for their Xtremes know what a Hayabusa is? You have probably seen one before but didn't know it because it went by so fast. hmmm...

For the rest of you...i'll give you the lowdown on "THE LAUNCH"

In order of importance:
1. REMOVE CIGARETTE LIGHTER from dash...a boosted launch will shoot the damn thing to the back window with incredible force
2. STRAP IN LAPTOP w/ DATAMASTER PROGRAM...with the seatbelt...it will also try to fly through back window
3. Torque break to about 6psi of boost...this will cause the front end of truck to tilt about 30 degrees (i get the most priceless faces on people i race when they look next to me with my trucks nose pointed upward and the sound of a tornado spooling up underneath the hood...they know they are pretty much done for)
4.GO!!! 425ft/lbs of torque is enough to give you whiplash if u dont keep your head planted to the back of the seat...in a little less than 4 seconds u are up to 60mph and are finally able to counter the G Forces to remove your implanted head from the headrest.

I got a 2003 chevy xtreme with a 4.3L v6 with the zq8 suspension package. It beats everything in my area except a 98 turbo eclipse with a massive amount of mods. My truck is completely stock so far an it still tears up mostly everything. what are some websites on this s10 ss you guys keep talkin about. im not a huge chevy guy, i just bought my truck 2 weeks ago after getting rid of my honda. I've never seen of heard of this ss you's keep sayin about...websites or pics please.....

I seriously hope your area is equivalent to about 5 square miles. Although an S10 has some descent power, they will still get beat by a long list of vehicles stock. EX: RSX Type S, Eclipse GSX and GS-T, Talon TSI, Dakota RT, Lightnings, Neon SRT 4, Integra Type R and GSR just to name a few.

You said you got your truck two weeks ago...unless all you do is race people 24/7 im sure you have only ran into a few races at most.

What are some of your kills?
5 speed or auto Xtreme? Regular or Xtended Cab?

And for the S10 SS...just look at a regular cab S10 with ZQ8 suspension in either black, white or red and add SS badges and bowtie to it...thats your SS right there...94 to 97 came with 195 hp though.

thanks for the info studballs...it sounds like the ss isnt really all that people say it is. Just a reg. s10 with ss badge(s). Not a high amount of hp but enough not to complain about. actually i raced all of these cars in two days...my friends wanted to see if they could beat my new truck.

My xtreme is extended cab 4spd. automatic.

well unfortunetly you have the slowest xtreme made with the 4.3 liter...but nothing a little mods wont fix buddy!

I would recommend getting a set of 4.10 gears for the rear end, SLP Y Pipe, K&N Generation II intake and a Hypertech Power Programmer.

Those mods right there should put you down to a low 15 second quarter mile with traction which will make your Xtreme beat a hell of a lot more vehicles out there.

The Hypertech Power Programmer is what you will need to get rid of your 97mph cutoff. You will also be able to firm your shifts, raise shift points and recalibrate for different size rear end (highly recommended)

oh yeah by the way the only real late model vehicle I believe should carry the SS badge is the Camaro...V8, 300hp+, 6 speed manual, 155mph+ top speed...now thats an SS!!

Ok for the guy who said S10's arent fast and are just for show..

ok lets think here...You can get a 4.3 liter 5 speed ZQ8 S10 for around 18,000 BRAND NEW. Add Mach Performance Procharger Kit, ECU upgraded and full 3 inch exhaust. You have close to 300 hp to the rear wheels and are running mid 13's with traction. Total cost about 23,000.00.

Or get a lighting that costs 32,000.00 and runs high 13's to low 14's stock and has bad handling and gets about 10 miles to the gallon. It does come with cool altezza taillights though.

As far as S10's being for show...of course people convert the 2.2 liter 4 cylinders to show, Unless you got a shitload of money to throw into that engine its just not worth it. Besides you can make an S10 look a hell of a lot more nicer than a Lightning anyways.
