What is going to happen to the I-35. I am really interested to see wher it will go with the success of the G-35 and introduction of the M-45.

I35 will prolly stay as the more luxury oriented entry class sedan for infiniti, and G35 will be performance oriented. Think of it like Lexus does it; IS300 for going fast, ES300 for going smooth. Inifiniti would be silly to drop either, as they would give sales away to Lexus.

I know I brought this thread back from the grave but I guess I just had to add a lil something I didn't realize until today. I was watching Motorweek and they stated that the 2004 6th gen Max as a Rear wheel drive vehicle.

I've never seen it quoted anywhere else as being rear wheel drive, anybody else know for sure if it is rwd?

I'm going to check www.freshalloy.com to see if they quoted it as being rwd, I believe I only seen that it stated fwd.

Can anyone confirm if it is rwd or not?

Just took another good look at freshalloy's Maxima page and this is what it states:

Maxima at a glance
Configuration:
Four door mid-size sedan
Front wheel drive
Models:
GXE, SE, GLE
Engine(s):
3.5L V-6 (255 bhp)
Base pricing:
$24,699 - $27,099

Motorweek's quote was RWD!
Like Michael Jackson would say, "Who's right, who's wrong?

That is a good question! I seem to recally seeing FWD but I can't find it on the site. This is from Nissan's site but it doesn't mention F or R WD.... Would the limited slip differential be a clue though? I am not sure if they have those on FWD cars.

I'm just like Maximus on this one, if it is RWD I'll consider one even with the fugly @$$ tooth thingy on the front (I'll remove it).

I was just quoting what Motorweek said as the Max rolled out RWD, everywhere else I've looked says FWD. As far as the LSD issue goes, LSD is not only for RWD cars, the FWD cars seemed to need them more especially a car like the Max.

The Max puts out a lot of torque to the front wheels and the LSD will stop all of the excessive wheelspin normally associated with fwd or rwd, this is why awd has an advantage on take off because there's no wheelspin and all the power is put to the ground.

Again I guess we're back to where we started, is the new Max RWD or FWD? Someone get some proof, not just inuendo.

no, it's not going to be rwd...remember that it is being built off the new altima platform. if it was rwd that would put it directly against the g35. i doubt nissan is that stupid.

Well, infiniti's site is f*cked up right now so I don't have exact distance or all dealerships but I know there is one dealer about 20 min from here and pretty sure there are a couple more within 30.

Then again, I live in Houston and you can't go a mile on the freeway without seeing a dealership... There are sections of the freeway where for 1-2 miles there is nothing but dealerships on both sides of the freeway. Land is cheap so they tend to create HUGE lots. The best I have to say is the Land Rover place though, the created an obstacle course for the yuppies to try the land rovers on. Probably the most off roading they will ever do.

The best thing about so many dealerships is if you play your cards right, you can get them too play off of each other and lower the price.

I was thinking the same thing, that's why it didn't make sense that Motorweek said it was rwd, otherwise why would anybody buy the G if they could get the same performance plus rwd in a Max for a cheaper price.

To my man P, the closest Infiniti dealer to me is 2 hours away in Raleigh, been there and test drove the G that I'm buying for my wife this year, those people are the nicest folks, much better attitude than the guys at Nissan especially when it comes to service.

I really can't complain my Nissan guys are good to me here but I've read and heard a lot of horror stories from others who said that they would never buy Nissan again just because of the crappy service they got when they went to the dealers. < I know that this was OT, sorry just had to get it off my chest.

Thrasher just killed all my hopes, but he's right, I doubt Nissan would make the Maxima RWD and the G35 FWD. Oh well looks like I have to just grow to like the looks of the new max, but I have to see it on paper first.

do any of you guys have trouble with your nissan dealerships? from my experience, nissan wants to get you in and out as fast as possible...on the other hand, infiniti service is just amazing. hard to believe sometimes that they are the same corp.

Maybe you should've started that question as a thread, like I stated my Nissan guys are good to me at Don Williamson Nissan in J'ville, NC.

I'm on a first name basis with the guys at the Service Dept, they are very friendly and I've even met the owner Don Williamson himself and he took me to his office and showed me some pics of the new Max before it even came out on the net. They let me drive everything on the showroom floor even though they knew I wasn't going to buy anything.

I would've love to buy that Murano, I just didn't happen to have 38K laying around.
