Re: Hayabusa X-1 In Progress - First Moto Kit

Hey guys,

Bit more of an update.

I've completed the instrument dials. Started with my CF painted dash and added the dial decals.

I then thickly painted the faces of the dials with Microscale Krystel Klear

After it dries (overnight) the effect of glass covered dials is achieved

And after detailing a bit more with painting some warning light etc..... here it is mounted on the bike

Also, after getting my new headlight parts, I've completed and added this to the bike.

That finishes my work on the frame and engine of the bike. All that's left for me is the painting of the cowlings.

Here they are primed on the outside and painted Semi Gloss Black on the inside.

The inside all masked up in preperation of the base colour of Mica Red

2 mist coats and first wet coat of Mica Red. Will leaves this for a couple of days now as I've noticed a few marks I need to sand/polish out before my second wet coat.

That's it for now, comments more than welcome. Thanks for looking.

Adam.

Re: Hayabusa X-1 In Progress - First Moto Kit

Well guys,
I've now finished the painting of the cowlings. Suffered from a bit of paint build up and bleeding in the masking stage, but after alot of polishing and some touch up work, I'm now at a stage where I'm happy with the results.

I've just applied my first coat of Mr Hobby Clear Top Coat (Great Stuff !!!!) and I'm gonna leave that over night to then add decals. Then it's just a matter of another couple of clear coats, polish and wax, and add a few more "bells and whistles" I've got planned to detail up the cowlings .

Definitely be finished by next weekend....... Can't wait - cause I'm hanging to start my next project

Enjoy and comment.

Adam.

Love ém ..... I've got 182 colours after collecting them over about a period of a year for my figure painting that I do.

The colour combination has turned out better than I hoped. As is always the way, the photos don't do the Mica Red justice - I love that colour !!!!

Adam.

Re: Hayabusa X-1 In Progress - First Moto Kit

Very crisp! I guess the kit comes with pre-cut masks? Looks really great. How about some dzuss fastners for the cowlings??
