BTW...check out the toyota forum there are some Spy shots of the New Supra on the Nurburing.

the xanavi r34 used the RB until 2003, when it switched to the vq. the vq has been a popular motor for years.

The first two years it was a single barrel carb I6, 3.9 L with a ass whooping 150HP, then in 55 they offered a four barrel carbed V8 as an option, 4.3 L and an extra fourty HP. In 56 they offered only V8's with different carbs, HP from 210-240... and the true legend begins from there.

I even think the motor in the NSX is that way (although don't quote me on that). I don't know, but I can't imagine Chevy makes much money on the Z06, and I know Honda/Acura didn't make money on the NSX. Sometimes it's all about the reputation building a competitive supr car can get you rather than the profit it will generate from sales.
Z06 sells dude, GM is making $$$ off the Z06, so yeah that exclusive motor is not a bad idea. (GM dough is doing bad dough.. chapter11)

what i know for sure is if nissan can get away with the VQ in the new SKYLINE, they will build it with the VQ power plant.

Re: Skyline Prototype!!

i agree ^. damn modern profiling. as for beating a z06 its possible judging on what kind of numbers the powerplant puts out after production and the weight of it overall, skylines don't have dissappointing historys, the rb in my opinion is better then the vq, the sound of the i6 is something beyond compair, you hear that bov it sends shivers,

the new style is nice, love the rear lighst and wing, has a nice body flare and the lines are smoothe but that front is aggrevating, what happened to the box-ier aggresive skyline front, no vertical tower lights no black accents just pure gtr in your face. i'll say its nice for now and what to see the finished product

Man Nismo-power, a little late telling me of other cars that came with the RB. I'm sorry everyone, I wasn't aware so many cars came with RB motors. Next time I'll do some research before I guess. Anyway, I like the way the VQ sounds, but it got old since I see at least 10-30 350Z's and G35's everyday, and see at least 2 a day that are fixed up from basic bolt-ons to turbos to superchargers. I've heard them all on a very regular basis so they have kinda lost their spark for me. Since I don't see a Skyline hardly ever, the distingtive sound of the exhaust and that I-6 just turns me on. I love the sound of Supras aswell so I would like to see them keep the I-6 for the future (even though the talk is that they are not). Anyway I wish Nissan good luck, and pray that maybe they will go conservative on the power, and leave the potential like the RB had. The great thing about the Skyline of the 90's was that with basic bolt-ons, you could make it way powerful even though it only had about 300hp stock, 500 wasn't hard to get at all. Hopefully it won't have a supercar interior with leather everywhere and be super luxurious. If they build the motor toned down (but with easy power potential) and not a luxury supercar inside, then maybe we will be able to afford the famous Skyline someday with insurance that won't eat us alive.

Re: Skyline Prototype!!

Z31, Im pretty sure they never called it a 200ZX... actually it may have been called the 200ZR. Anyway, it had the RB20DET in it, it wasnt too popular though since the RB20 is a pile to begin with and being in the Z31s heavy shell didnt make things better.

Yeah, that and I believe the 200ZR made only 190hp... maybe a bit less.

Stupid "redtop RB20" bleh!

Just saw the Skyline. It looks great except the front is too boxy for me, I like sloped fronts. But hey thats how the other Skylines look. Isn;t It going to have the sr20det instead of an rb series?
