Those SS are awesome for that. Gotta give it to Chevy on that one

On the highway my Stang will get 25mpg, and the GTR 26-27mpg

Just would like to add I have 12.5k in my stang, and 12.8k into my GTR.

My cars are pretty fast, but I pride myself on finding a good deal, more than there ability to push you back into the seat, but that is a pretty cool by-product

Heres what you do u say you have a civic. Buy a B18 motor(3000.00), give or take, throw that monkey in your light civic. Then mod it up. with headers/intake/v tec controller/exhaust and your running 14.1-13.8 all for under 10,000. Now you can get real sick and go internal or forced induction for another 5,000. and be in the 10sec range. I'd like to see a z28 pull 10sec with out going over 30,000. Theres no style with camaros and mustangs everyone has one and they all think they are real fast and they are not. also think about the long run even with a 13 sec honda you will still get good gas mileage. mod up a 5.0 or LS1 and say good by to gasoline they will get 8 miles to the gallon while a honda passes you on the drag strip pulling 30mpg
Oh wow. I want an economy car too! So I suppose the Lamborgini getting epa rating of 8/13 mpg is trash too? Some people perfer style and performance instead of economy car and gas miles.

Just get yourself a '99 and up Cobra. All you'd have to do is get a solid axle, preferably a 99+ from a GT because its better for drag racing and if you were to get an older 8.8 you'll need wheel spacers because it is shorter, unless your gonna road race which means more $$$ in beefing up the IRS than beefing up the 8.8. Thats what I did, I swapped with a guy that had an '01 GT 8.8, now I have 31 Spline Axles, Eaton Posi, and 4.56s in it. But the'03 Cobra's IRS is stronger than the '99 and '01 Cobra's IRS, but alsomore expensive ($35,000) because I've seen people putting slicks on the STOCK IRS and it holds up like the 'Vettes IRS. I've got bolt-ons an I'm running low 12s on BFG Drag Radials. Also I get 350 miles on a tank of gas with the 4.56s. On the highway in 5th driving at 70mph at 2800rpm.

Yeah sure the F-Bodies are faster, but remember, they have a 350 C.I.D motor whereas the Cobras have a 281.

Good Luck with your purchase!

VENOMNIZED281

HEY BRO---I WAS CURIOUS----I'm not trying to pick a fight with you------but I have an 01 cobra------with a K&n + C&L mass air meter, single bore ported throttle body, FR500 cylinder heads, custom superchip, 4:10 gears, JBA shorty headers, bassani x-pipe, FR500 exhaust system, & stock 5 speed Tranny-----and I drive from central jersey to Deer Park, L.I. (New York) very often 75 miles each way------and bro-------I don't usually spend much time in lower gears----mostly in 5th--------rarely going over 65mph------and I never get more than 260miles per whole tank--------I don't know bro------your 350miles per tank--------sounds like BS to me------especially----when you are running 4.56gears--------and NO 6 SPEED TRANNY lol

My mistake, I get 330 miles on a tank. I don't know about your 260 on the tank, but its probably because you can't keep your foot off the gas.

sorry venomnized

I was checking with some other 2 other cobra owners----and the 4:56 gears + the stock 5 tranny-----bro----well, I still think your gas numbers are exaggerated. With a 6speed TTC, I'd give you the benefit of the doubt----but at that gear ration, stock tranny-----at 60mph---you have to be close to 2800rpms in 5th. With a 15.7 tank----just don't buy it bro-----and my Cobra is running pretty tight with no restrictions anywhere.:bandit:

Sorry, but I'm in 5th not in 4th when I'm cruising at 70 mph not 60 mph at 2800 RPM. I'm not sure what much more I can tell you, fact is I do get 330 mi. to the tank. Sorry if you don't wanna believe me.

It also could be that you have a C&L, Ported T/B, FR500 Heads and Chip, when I don't have those parts on my car. Meaning
MORE AIR=MORE FUEL.

actually venomnized

1) running 4:56 gears at 60mph and a stock 5speed tranny------does not get you at 2800 rpms-----thats a bold faced lie. I'm almost at that in 5th with my 4:10----I've even checked that out with my mustang tuner -----you are definetely blowing smoke.
2) My FR500 cylinder heads are more free flowing than your stock heads-----you may want to read about Ford's FR500 mustang; even more so---the fact that I have freer flowing heads + an aftermarket mass air meter-----will easily give me better mileage than your stock components. Thats not debatable----even more some----I have the same stock cams. Bro-----thats a nice dream---but very unlikely. Don't fool me----I know my tech.

Hmmmmmm 20K to buy a FAST car????

OK, Im going to go outside the box here and suggest another vehicle. Take 11K and buy yourself a 1991 GMC Syclone. Take the other 9K and hop it up and whamo! Your in the 11's. Now unlike the Honda's and Mustangs you will be running 11's ALL the time, not just at the track. The reason? AWD. No need to bolt on slicks. When was the last time a Honda ran 11's on radials???? Syclone's are true stoplight terrors!

If you could pull another 15K, buy the new 03 Cobra. 5.0 Magizine moded one with a new exaust, a K+N filter, bolted on some slicks and the SOB ran high 11's at the track. Thats sick shit. I gotta hand it to Ford for finnaly getting their heads out of their asses.

So when in the Hell is the New Charger coming out?? That new Hemi would go great in it. Anyone check out the SVT RAm with the 500hp V-10? Costs 50K but runs 12's...not bad for a truck.....looks like the Lightning is going to need a redo....... (not like they could even handle Syclones...)

Ven281,

How tall is your back tires? Its possible, I guess to get 24 on the highway, but I would think your back tires would have to be a slightly taller tire to bring the ratio down a bit. If you are getting that more power to you. I get about the same with my 302.
