Re: Cops using STI's?

Looks to me like that license plate says Colorado so a STI would make a lot of sense.

Re: Cops using STI's?

I can see the sti as viable police car in certain areas of the states... awd in the snow has definate advantages over big torque rwd drive cars in that case. Just imagine a cammed ls1 or chipped and pullied cobra on the Cali highways though, talk about "interceptors"....

Sorry drftk1d, but his name does look cooler than yours. You may be the OG, but he's updated and X-rated

Re: Cops using STI's?

I call 'em H4s...they use the similar motor in the Porsche 911s. Cept theirs have 6 cylinders.

Re: Cops using STI's?

The cops in sydney have 2 STi's, both marked I think.

Probably more to do with scaring ppl on highway chases since STi's have a very scary reputation.

I am pretty sure the Sti has a higher top speed than a GT mustang, so i dont know why you would say the mustang is better on the highway (Sti max speed = 155mph ... mustang = 140 mph ) http://www.supercars.net/cars/2005@$Ford@$Mustang%20GTx.html
http://www.supercars.net/cars/2003@$Subaru@$Impreza%20WRX%20STix.html

there is info for both cars.. as for the camaro it is a bit faster but overall i think the Sti is a much better car except i wouldent want to drive a cop car hehe

I took these pics about a year ago....probably a little longer.

This car is NOT an actual CSP patrol car. I think that had been resolved already though.

The STI being a better car is totally subjective, personally I don't see any of these cars as particularly well suited to police duty. The only valid point I have heard for using a STI, Mustang or camaro for police duty is for a DARE car or simply to make a cop look cool to young kids. Off subject but, prior to 05 not all mustangs were governed to 140, or any speed for that matter. Police shouldn't be driving that fast anyway.
