Somebody does here knows little about manufacturing and that person is not me. The tobacco companies would love to see Marijuana legalized. They are in the best position to bring it to market.

If weed were legal you wouldn't need companies to produce it, people would grow it. Home Grown Hydroponics would flock down south and open up chain stores on every street corner where you could pick up your lamps, humidifiers, nutrient formulas, etc... Weed will never be legalized in the U.S. - how many BILLIONS of dollars has been spent arresting and incarcerating people for pot? At this point I don't even think the government could turn around and legalize it, what do you do with the thousands of people rotting in jail because of weed (who are probably much worse people now having been shacked up with murderers and robbers
), you let these guys all go? I'm a former hardcore pothead, don't touch the stuff anymore (once or twice a year, maybe), and I think weed is ruining society here. When we were all in high school my friends and I would show up stoned for politics debates and argue how it should be taxed and legalized, laughing like nothing would be wrong. Now we're seeing massive grow homes getting busted almost every week, violent shootings occur every weekend in a city where prior to 1999 you heard about it a few times a year. Its different here obviously because we had no guns to begin with and now that our pot is worth so much its exchanged at the boarder for guns. Still, legalizing it is not the answer. Then again I think its absolutely insane to imprison someone for smoking a joint!! If you haven't seen it already, you should check out the Woody Harlson narrated docu-movie called GRASS. |

people would stop growing their own if it was legalized. (it is a pain in the ass) they would go to the store and pick up a 200% taxed pack, which would still be cheaper and easier than growing their own. Think about this "how many people grow their own tobacco?" people only grow their own mariujuana bc it is illegal Quote:
and like someone already stated the guy that owns Coors beer company is the number 1 contributor to the anti drug campaign, Now ask yourself 'Does he contribute simply out of the good of his heart?, or Does he contribute to keep his product selling?" Bc personally i would rather smoke a J(not saying i do)than get drunk and get sick

Anyway, if weed were legal it would not destroy the tobacco companies. If anything is going to destroy that industry its going to be the US goverment, and they're doing a damn fine job. People smoke cigarettes because they are addicted. If weed were legal, people would just smoke weed and cigarettes. I used to love having a cig and buring a fatty. My thinking is, maybe cigarette sales would go up if weed were legal. I could see myself going to the store and buy a pack of smokes with my weed.

Problem with government weed is that it sucks. The crop our gov't made for medicinal purposes was terrifble. And its not hard to grow pot at all - its fun. Marijuana plants are very pretty and aromatic - I've grew weed in two little pots a few years ago just for fun (didn't even try the buds). I used no lights or equipment, grew it just like a flower on a window sill. Buddy of mine grew weed when he lived in B.C. for a year in his empty aquarium - boy did he have some wicked seeds cause this stuff was crazy!

Re: Should US legalize Marijuana
me and a buddy grew a few batches the proper way a while ago. we used sodium bulbs, timer for those bulbs, plenty of nutrients, a closet sheeted in mylar, fans for ventilation, proper plant maintenance and pruning and lots of books on horticulture. it's not cheap, easy or fun but if done right it's worth it.

Yes there is. Being around a bunch of drunken idiots who all of a sudden think they are maucho because they have had a few. I always find it odd that up here in Canada they is a very liberal attitude in regards to pot and possesion of small amounts. There has been talk for a number of years of decriminalizing it. This is not the same as legalizing it but it is a step in that direction. What really is amazing is that in that same time (since Reagan) the direction the US has taken is towards stiffer rules and 0 tolerance. In fact one of the biggest opponents to decriminalizing it here is the US and how they threaten that the border crossings will slow down to a halt. (pressumably so that they can check everyone form Canada who travesl to the US). |
