Re: Superdetailed Mercedes Benz 300 SL

Oli, thats perfect!! I am going for the set up in picture 1, but I am putting a spare wheel, without tire on it, becuase some of them didn't have the tires mounted on, just the spare wheel from the factory (I read).

I am also working on retaining straps and the leather tool bag.. Thank you for the photos!

Small update... finished the trunk piece. Complete with scratchbuilt tools, real leather tool bag, retaining traps and manual.

Fitted interior tub over the chasis:

Updates time.

Painted the body pieces, Mercedes Sea Gull grey metallic. OEM paint from Dupont. 6 Clear coats later... I am thinking about not polishing it because the 56 paint wasn't really all that polished and clayed out of the factory. What do you think?

I think its pretty good shine...

From my "what if" file... a V10 Viper motor?

what do you think?

Polish it!

And for gods sake no Viper motor, that is the most over used motor in modeling history....

Re: Superdetailed Mercedes Benz 300 SL

Yikes, love that interior and boot insert. No harm to polish the body, unless you have references to the contrary.
I take it the Viper engine is just a joke!

I would deffintely not use the Viper motor, I just think its super wicked looking.

Why do you think I should polish it? It doesn't look good the way it is now?
