Re: Eclipse=best subs in the world
I know u know what ur talkin about but look dude......double the cone area thats 3db double the power that's 3db and the doubling in size and port area will yield around 3 db thats 9 db damn near twice as loud to the human ear.

Re: Eclipse=best subs in the world
You aren't doubling the size and port area though, you're keeping it the exact same per sub which is what matters.
As for the doubling of power, I'm really not sure what to think. Some say that adding a 2nd sub automatically yields 3dB, and doubling the power adds another 3dB (so 2 subs with 600rms each will be 6dB louder than 1 sub with 600rms), but some say that doubling the displacement to gain that first 3dB includes a doubling of power, because if you just double the subs and split the power between them, you aren't actually doubling the displacement, you're just splitting the same total displacement between 2 subs instead of 1 (say 5L of displacement total, in one case you have 1 sub displacing all 5L, and in the other case you have 2 subs, each displacing 2.5L, in the end it's still 5L). So doubling the subs and the power (so 2 subs with 600rms each vs 1 sub with 600rms) only gains you 3dB. I've heard arguments on both sides and I don't know which one to think. I guess I just need to do some testing to figure it out for myself.

Re: Eclipse=best subs in the world
In my original post i said to double the box and port size...... double cone are=3 db w/ same power...that's why setups w/ a lotta subs don't need a lot power to get rediculously loud. Test but from my experiences doubling all that i said is twice as loud to my ears.

Re: Eclipse=best subs in the world
I think you would need 3,000 watts there (1500+1500) to be 3 times as loud.

Re: Eclipse=best subs in the world
You could put another sub in the same size but the response would be all fucked up but what i was sayin is basically doubling your substage will double the output. another sub double the power and double the original box space. The reason I know its twice as loud is because a lot of people I do installs for will start with one sub then upgrade to 2 and I do all this and it's about double the loudness.
