Thanxs for your comments everyone.
SchuberT: Yeah I am planning to CF the hood. I bought a sheet of CF from SAS.
SnakekanS: Yeah...I'll do some test fitting. I didn't but the Nismo side skirts on in the picture. I'm not sure if i want to do anything to the side skirts or not.
Primesuspect407: They epoxy putty is called Milliput. It's really good. And it dries hard as a rock. Well almost. I actually chipped a small peice of the vent where it nears the windshield. I was trying to do more sanding. I am repairing it now. It's actually harder to repair it than when I had to sand it down to the shape I wanted earlier.( I should have left it......I'm sure everyone has been in a situation where it was better to leave it then ttempt to repar it... )
Fastphil: Well i see where your comming from and i respect that. But this is the Nismo G35...or SKYLINE!!!!!!! I wanted to bring out the presence of the 32s, 33s or 34s. So I wanted to make it as aggresive and similar to the skyline, but that design had to be alter somewhat because of the V35's unique and different curves and lines.

While the primer on the body is drying, what do you guys think about metallic orange for the body? Or maybe "Skyline" blue? (I don't want a metalic silver or a red body becuase they overly done) Give me some suggestions or your . I also need to spray the rims too. You know why if you have kept up with this thread since the beginning. Well I'll keep you guys updated...back to working on the front fascia and rear bumper.

Re: In Progress Nismo V35 Skyline Coupe 350GT

I think that a metallic orange would look great ! with dark/semi-dark rims, with a silver lip maybe...

Well here's how i did it...
wheels were already chrome silver/chrome so i just paintbrushed the spokes an other color. the finish is smooth, just as a can would have done. on the first "coat", because the rim finish is gloss, almost no paint is sticking, but it does put enough so when you paintbrush the second time, the paint sticks well. try not to put too much paint. just cover the area, go to the next part, then when you're done come back right after and paint brush some more. go like that until it looks smooth everywhere.
i know this method is long but it does the job.
note that you could sand the part to be painted but it might be hard to sand, and the gloss finish will give a good shine to your paint.

on a second hand, i guess you could stripe it and paint it with a can but it would be, IMO, harder and and more time consuming

hope that helps, and that pro modelers here will give their advices too, because i'm not a master !

great work so far. I really like this project. good luck with the SAS CF, I'm sure you'll pull it off without a hitch!

Re: In Progress Nismo V35 Skyline Coupe 350GT

its onjly considered a rice hood when it doesn't do anything, eg. a new corolla with a CF hood with vents would b uber rice, this on the other hand is performance. Also, the G35 sedan is a "classy" car, while on the other hand the G35 coupe is strictly performance. Please elaborate on how that would be the "ultimate rice" hood.

Hey everyone,
I know I haven't posted in a while but that is because I have began packing for college and my schedule is getting hectic. So hence my progress has been put on hold for a while. However I am now back and working on my model. I have formed the front fascia to the way I want it and I am just in the process of a bit more putty work and sanding to smooth the edges and lines out.
I have also started the rear bumper. If you take a look at the Nismo kit, the rear bumper has these huge side skirts that go on them and I personally think it is too thick and ugly.(It looks good on the real car though.) So because I am not putting them on, there are big indentations on the rear bumper where the side skirts were suppose to glue onto. I have puttied it up but it's taking a while to get the right shape because I have the fill in the indentations to match the lines and curves of the rear bumper. So thats very annoying. Second, I am also building a diffuser for the rear bumper. So I will be posting pictures shortly.
But since I am gonna immediately paint after I am done with the front fascia, the rear bumper and the scratch build intercooler, I want your opinion on color schemes for the interior and exterior. I am pretty set on making the rims gun metal. I have already bought a can of Tamiya Gun Metal paint. Now I am trying to find a body color. I want a color not seen or used much.( I was thinking about pearl baby blue, but then I thought it was kind of too light or "girlie" for such an aggressive looking car. So I was considering metallic orange or pearl orange, if they make it.)

PS: I actually bought a sheet of the SAS CF decals. I can't wait to use it and tackle the task of laying it seamlessly on the hood with that huge vent.

Hey everyone ,
I'm sorry for not updating this thread the past several weeks. I have been very busy gathering necessities for college, which I will be leaving for this Friday. Aside from that, I was still spending a lot of time perfecting the front fascia and the hood. Again, this is the first time I have ever scratch built at such a level. I kept either adding putty or sanding down rough surfaces and then I would re-prime the piece. This went on longer than my patience could handle, but I got the front fascia and the hood to a point where I thought if I touched it anymore, it would become worse.
So here are the most updated pictures...
The interior was painted stock. It just replicates the interior of the real V35 Skyline Coupe. I already spent a lot of money on this kit, so I didn't buy any spectacular racing seats or seat belt harnesses. And because I didn't have any spectacular seats, I thought it would be silly to paint them in a way to make them look sporty with color schemes and etc.

Here are two pictures of the Brembo cross drilled brakes which I added onto the kit. It's not really clear enought o see the cross drilled rotors, but they're there.

How do you like the Gun Metal Rims? I think it's a nice touch considering the color of the car and the CF decal that I will apply to the hood.

And here is the body after several coats of Duplicolor Orange Mist spray paint.

You can see that I modified the Nismo Rear Bumper a bit. I thought it made the rear look more aggressive looking, rather than looking like the back of a bar of soap... .

Well this is what I have for now. I am sorry for the slow progress but I am trying to get this to look as good as possible. Unfortunately to add to the slow progression, I will have to put a hold on this project for about 3 months because I don't have time to finish this before I leave on Friday . So give me your on what I have done so far.

Re: In Progress Nismo V35 Skyline Coupe 350GT

very nice progress. That color suits the car beautifully, and your work on the hood is superb.
I might suggest a blackwash on those rotors to make them look more realistic. I can't wait till you get back and resume progress!
