No Rex for us

Yea,
We have never been offered production level WRX's. Import tuner and some other magazines would bring them over here but they had to be returned or destroyed after a while. Pretty lame huh?! I still dont like the new bubble shape though.

Peace

Talking Going insane....

My first time posting, I'm new to the forum. This weekend I reserved a Silver 5-speed WRX which is due in 2nd week of april. This is going to be the longest 4 weeks of my life. I have never ever been one of those lucky people who are lucky enough to be one of the first to experience something great. I have a feeling this car is just the beginning of a series of incredible releases by Subaru and other Japanese manufacturers. What amazes me is that there is already an aftermarket for a car that is not available (officially) yet. I haven't driven but I dont care. I'm gonna love it. If anyone wants to buy my pampered Legacy Turbo it's up for sale. i want to sell it before I get my DubYarX! Email me of you're interested. Have fun everybody.

Welcome to AF, Samirr!
Hope you like it here... and don't hesitate to let me know if you need any help or have suggestions for anything!

I too, can't wait till the WRX comes out in the US.
But what dissappoints me is that it's only a single turbo
Don't forget to share your WRX pics with us as soon as you get the car!

Wink Single Turbo? :-)

Its not the number of turbos that count...its the size that matters! ;-) Oh here's a picture of me and my current Legacy Turbo that I have up for sale! Selling with or without all the goodies.

Well, the number of turbos does matter....TT setups will have shorter spool up time in general. But, that's not too important.

Cool

My manager at work looked puzzled when I told him I just spent $25k on a Subaru. He asked me if it had like a sunroof and leather and everything. I told him theres no leather or sunroof available. And he looked even more puzzled. With a smirk, I told him the Impreza is a cult car and that he wouldnt understand. A few minutes later, he emailed me asking me to explain how the impreza is considered a "cult car"? This is the email I wrote back to him in response:

Alot of people associate Subaru with economical, boxy cars, but thats mostly in the United States where they've aquired that image because as not many people know, the rest of the world have a very different image of Subaru. In countries like the UK, New Zealand, and Austrailia they have different models and versions of US models which have been dominating autocross and rally racing for several years. The Subaru Impreza won the World Rally Championship 3 years in a row. The US often doesnt get such models because of strict emissions standards and because of the low profit on these highly specialized vehicles. In some cases they have brought detuned versions of these cars over but for the first time in Subaru hisotry they are bringing over a Japanese spec model of the popular Impreza. This car features a 227hp turbocharged engine, and more performance upgrades than I can list. Many of the cars features are straight from the rally version of the car. The car has also been structurally and cosmetically redesigned for the 2002 model year. This car is not like a BMW or a Mercedes because it just doesnt have the status that is associated with those names. I won't be turning any heads most likely and anyone other than a true Sube junky won't appreciate what goes into this car. We hope that the capabilities of this car will allow Subaru to break free of its old reputation in the United States. For the price of $25k it competes with cars twice its price. For me personally, I will take an incredible performing car over one that just looks like it is. To me theres not alot in just a name. Hope that explains it

Samir.

body kits......

Not sure if you've seen it in person or not, but it looks hot to me. And theres body kits by C-west that make it look just as mean as it is on the inside Peronally I like the stealth look.

Ball bearing turbo?

Does the new WRX have what's called a "ball bearing turbo"? What exactly is a ball bearing turbo? I had assumed all turbos would have bearings in them to allow them to spin as fast as they do. How does this increase performance? Yes...I am a newbie, to turbos anyways...I've only owned a turbo for a little over a year now.

Post ezine

For a great (aussie) online motoring mag head on over to www.autospeed.com there are lots of articles including a series on WRX enhancements a series on eliminating negative boost and lots of other relevant shiat (it aint all free tho). Damn fine effort to support I just signed up.

I still can't beleive yoos hav,t got the rex until now! Calling it a cult car is somewhat on the side of an understatement over ere. Do you have it's bitter rival the Mistubishi lancer evolution, now in it's seventh incarnation?
