I have to ask. Did you use ellipses for the rims?

Yes. I usually don't use ellipses just because it takes away from the handrawn look. But I used them on this because I wanted it to look really graphic since I was using it as part of my logo.

That's cool.

I use ellipses too.
I also use french curves. Over break I did a drawing of a 350Z w/o any tools like ellipses but I think I left that in Germany with my brother.

I think I will have to try drawing more cars w/o tools. All my drawings start out free-hand a grids but then I go over them with curves and such. I read in the Artist magazine that one should do a lot of free-hand sketches often to improve drawing skills. I am going to try that.

Thx
Alfred

ilov2xlr8, awesome hotrod Daaang can't believe that is your 2nd color work, cool holmz.

Kartoonz and elroyj25, you guys airbrush, that is cool. I bought an airbrush book and read it about 3 times but never bought a brush. You guys have some good imagination, something I don't have.

Tell me; is the key to airbrush detail and control mostly in the masking?
It seems airbrushers have to do a lot of masking?

Re: Everybody's art

For t-shirts and license plates and stuff I don't mask anything. I just do everything freehand. It sayes time. With automotive stuff though, masking comes into play more.

The lincoln was a quickie drawn with a pencil , then black pen outlined , scaned, and painted with corel draw, took a few hours ..simple but fun . With my airbrushing all my work is done freehand t-shirts and vehicles , I just mask when doing graphics or flames .
