you can also use that expanding foam stuff for hard to get areas .... just be very carful how much you put into a crevice - reports are that it can actually bow out an outside panel, and it would nearly impossible to fix

If you are concerend with resale value of you car or just dont want to look at the foil side of dampers on your truck lid you can paint most of them however it looks kinda cheesy.
here is how I did my wifes civic with Second Skin STFU-80

the last layer is rattle pad. It is not designed to go in areas like that, but it seemed to work fine.
