ARGH! That damn edge isn't getting any paint. I started out with very light coats because I was aware of the sharp edges, but apparently this part is quite stubborn. Any suggestions?

I like that color very much. The sunlight really brings it out. Great work.

It's the mettallic silver undercoat/base. The base is releasing the surface tension of the topcoat allowing it to thin at the edges. Ever notice that paint at edges and seams of your models appear perfectly smooth and don't need polishing? The surface tension of the paint draws it tight and smooth as it gases out.
It may be the Testors paint (I've never had good luck with them) but try 7-8 dusting coats to start if you start over.
Looking again, the paint looks really thick and that tends to exagerate the problem. Try to allow a little more drying time between coats as well.

More updates. Finished front suspension, engine mounting, and side exhaust pipes. Note the required rubber bands to hold the exhaust system while it sets dry.

Just finished the interior. Seats and dash done in "sweet chocolate", and silver touches added to door panels, gauges, and hvac vents. I expect to finish the entire model by the end of this week.

One of the smoothest paint jobs I've ever had. I was planning on clearcoating it, but I don't want to risk messing up. I gave the body 4 coats of Tamiya wax and it turned out with a shine equivalent to clearcoat.
