all this talk about kits and such ignores the fact that stock, it just isn't a maxima...sure, with a kit, just about any car can be made to look great, that is what the aftermarket is for. maxima's have always been good lookers straight out of the box, and that's what made them so great, that you didn't need a kit to make it look great. who wants to buy a brand new car knowing that you need a kit to make it not ugly. like i said, it goes against what made the max what it is!

Nissan really disappointed me when they failed to drop a V8 and AWD in this new Max. Who wants to buy a new Max with only 5 more hp than the last gen. At least from previous gens to gens they upped the hp and torque between 22-33hp & 17-20ish tq.

yeah. i talked to some ass wiper at the nissan place when the 350z first came out. He told me to expect an 8 cylinder maxima radically redesigned. it looks different but definitely not radical. The 4th gen is the best max to date IMO. they shoulda taken a 4th gen tweaked it and re-released it as a 2004..

Nissan really let me down, because I first noticed Maximas back when Menace to Society came out and I fell in love with the car. Then in 95 this one cat in High school had a 94 SE blk on blk, Man that thing was fast and beautiful. My point is that these cars looked great stock right out the box and back then nobody even put kits on them. 17 inch rims and a bangin sound system is all the work these cars needed to be truly plush. In the words of bk2, "JUST MY .02"

yeah, i agree that the 4th gen is the best looking...5th gen is evolutionary, as opposed to revolutionary, as the 6th gen is. nissan has forgotten what the maxima is supposed to be. let's incite a revolt!!

Why does everyone have to be so negative about it? Yes, the front grille has got to go but other then that, I am pretty happy. When I first saw the 5th gens I thought they looked odd, but the more I saw them and I saw what a great car they were I grew to love them. The 6th gen certainly does manke a dramatic leap in terms of styling, but in my mind, it is pretty nice. The side and back both look quite agressive and (excusing the grille) the front isn't bad either.
And for not having AWD and a V8 in the car. Not having AWD is a disapointment, thought it might be offered in the future. However, why would you want a V8 in your max? Yes, more powerful, but you begin losing part of what makes a Max. Any company can put a bigger and bigger engine in a car to make it fast, but the max needs its 6, lightweight but still enough to smoke many other cars on the road. And for business reasons, there is no way they could have put a V8 in, it would have trashed the infiniti G35 sales and competed with Infiniti M45 sales. Sorry to rant, I just personally love the new Max and got pissed about everyone ripping it a new one. We all are entitled to our opinions so I guess no one here is really right or wrong. |
