EDIT: don't drink tequila, kids. making up for that post, add Celtic Frost to your list. Morbid Tales and other early works is very thrashy, but they're evolved a lot; their last album, Monotheist, is very doom metal. fucking awsome band, though.

Opeth are on my playlist at the moment, I have all their albums now, and the one that sticks out is "Still Life" and "Blackwater Park".
These guys are the Dream Theater/Pain of Salvation of death metal. I've never been so relaxed listening to metal before since Master of Puppets.

Opeth is one of my favorite artists in metal, ever. Those two are also my favorite albums; Blackwater Park really is their finest work.

First off disturbed isnt meta I dont care what anyone says.
But 93 mentioned most of my favorite bands and for a new one to check out MOONSPELL is definatley my favorite metal band And off the beaten path DRAGON FORCE has awsome instrumentals as well with there lyrics is something lots off people end up loving.

So I purchased this Korn industrial tribute cd (mostly dj private benjamin) and it motivated me to buy the three Korn LPs that I did not own. So I picked up the new one... Untitled, which I didn't particularly like at first but it is growing on me... See You on the Other Side, the wife really likes "Coming Undone" and I think losing Head to Jesus only made Korn fucking more hardcore... and Take a Look in the Mirror, don't know why I never picked that one up, really kicks ass. I haven't listened to them all enough to pick out favorites yet but the song Somebody Someone gets me going
 Edit: Disturbed may not be metal but they sure as shit aren't emo like most of these new suck bands...

I havn't listenend to Korn since "Issues" came out in middle school. In my opinion, they've only gone down hill. Their somewhat funk rock approach is completely lost, too. I dunno, i don't like their goth/industrial take on pop-rock at all.
Disturbed is another band I never really liked too much. The hard rock scene is flooded with "ok" bands in my opinion, only several shine through, like Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave (a hybrid of the last two), The Mars Volta, Velvet Revolver, Stone Temple Pilots, and a little bit of Queens of the Stone Age. If you are into an industrial sound like Korn or Rammstein, but need something heavier, check out a metal band called Samael. A good album to try out is "Passage" or their newest "Solar Soul". Another band that has had a major influence on the genre is Celtic Frost, one of my favorite bands. Check out their album "Into the Pandemonium" Celtic Frost is a very variable band through the years, starting off as a Thrash/Black metal band, touching Glam/Hair metal (their worst album, imo), and their latest effort being a very satanic-doom metal peice of art. My favorite albums are their first and last, "Morbid Tales" and "Monotheist" Since this thread started off with thrash, check out Morbid Tales.

Middle School? Haha. Damn I'm old. But Issues was a kickass lp...
I really like Industrial Hard stuff. I don't really get into too much thrash, grindcore or black metal these days. But if I did I would listen to Nile or Meshuggah. Malevolent Creation and Slayer are some of my favorite speed/grind/heavy shit... I like those grundge bands you posted but I think their time has come and gone as well. STP has always been a favorite though. I just had an operation on one of my ears so I can hear again... I don't want to go and fuck up my hearing again not yet anyway...
