If you want 350hp, you need a new engine. Some people are putting in Northstar engines, but that could be pricey. It is very easy to get a 305 in there, and a 350 will work too. If you found a 350 from an 80's Camaro, that would be good. Then put in high compression pistons, a hot cam, exhaust, intake manifold, etc, etc, and you should have 350 hp no problem. If you got the complete car,you could also use the tranny (the V6 5 speed might not stand up to the torque)

i need more horse power
what if i wanted to keep the same transmission and the stock v6 and just do motor work to it how much do you think i could get out of it makes by doing other mods like performance motor parts and racing cams and a supercharger and stuff like that and if youo dont thinkl that would be a good idea do you think i could put an 80 s camero engine in it because i could easily get ahold of one of those or an iroc series car i might be able to get on other question is it at all possible to fit a 50 or cobra mustang engine in the fiero just wondering but i dont think i would do that well let me know what you think

An 80's Camaro 350 should fit in fine. Of course, join a club for more info on how to do it. I think a 5.0 should fit, but 350's are much easier and easier to tune.
It would probably be cheaper to mod a 350 then to supercharge teh V6, and the 350 would be more powerful. However, there is one guy on the Fiero board who has done up his V6 quite nicely, and I think he runs 13's. Seek him out, he should help there. Also, be aware that there is a HUGE support group out there. PS, you can use periods

oh yeah sorry about that period thing. Well maybe i ll try and get a
chevy camero engin for it when i buy the 86. I have another question for you does the fiero run carb or efi (electonic fuel injection) just wondering. here are a few things i am thinking about doing to my fiero when i get it. I am planning on getting some new rims with some low profile tires and a new paint job with a rear spoiler and tinted windows for the outside. on the inside i would like to put in a cd player racing wheel, racing pedals, racing shifter, racing seats, new floor matts ,and a nice set of speakers prolly 15 or 12 inch with 4 2 inch tweeters and a 1200 watt amp wich i will prolly put in the trunk iff possible and maybe put the amp under the hood.under the hood i ll prolly put in the camero engine and on the wind sheld i was going to put a strip across the top saying something like pontiac or fiero i no it will cost alot of money but i am working hard and i will get most of this done bye next september or so i hope. :smoka: |

The V6 has fuel injection, I'm 98% sure.
Those are quite ambitious plans. I see at least 5 grand extra. And dont neglect the suspension and brakes! Some coil-overs whould help, dropping the car a few inches. At least get some better brake pads, as all-new brakes could be expensive. Once you begin, and start picking actual parts, start a thread to keep us posted!! |

yeah but the kool thing is is the guy put a buch of new stuff on the car before he put it up for sale and its been for sale for like 2 weeks and he
isnt going to drive it until i buy it and it wont be long until i get it. I think he got 4 new tires new brakes and pads front end alighment ac charged new shocks and struts and a few other regular tune up things like oil/air filters and oil change.and it wont cost near 5,000 to fix because i go to a tech school and they can paint it and tint it there cheaply and they have a chevy engine in my automotive shop the said i can have when i get the car the only thing i have to do is put it in and tune it up if i change engines and its mine the shop teacher said so it will cost me alot less plus i get all the electronic help i need there in eltronics shop so the can hook up my speekers be cause i dont know much about that but i am sure my friend can help me with that he knows everything about engines.oh and i found a cheap spoiler that will fit the fiero and it is better than a regular fiero spoiler |

LMAO.. i hope you guys are joking.. PLEASE tell me your bs'in.. first off the trannys won't interchage form a camaor.. event he first 84 fiero had fuel injection. a 15" sub with a 1200w amp.. oh please. if your looking for spl this isnt' the car.. i had an audio set up in my 86 se that would hit 141.3 and be pretty clear... tht was the biggest waste of $.. the gts came with a sub woffer a 6" just replavce the speaker and hook it to a decent amp that plenty of noise. an installation kit for a smal block chevy is about $1550 for the most basic parts...

Yes, you would need a Camaro tranny. But that is pretty expensive to get it in, there must be a cheaper way.

why would you need a camaro tranny? not to be brash but have you ever seen a V8 in a fiero? i've driven 3-4 of them, replaced 2 clutches in them and currently messaging a SBC to put in mine.. the stock tranny stays.. the stock axles stay, its virtually plug and play(with the installation system from Archie) and. (20 hours worth the installation but still no major modifications need to be made.) needing a camaro tranny sounds just a uneducated as using a ford engine for the swap. you want a MKI MR2 S/C.. so i'm sure you know that it's easy to swap the SC14 for the current SC12... it's about that easy. slight modification to a few things and poof your pushing more air. i've got a GZE motor with intercooler sitting in my garage if your interested. (oh yeah a GZE is the supercharged intercooled engine for a MKI mr2)

I dont know a whole whole bunch about fiero's, but I guessed that the stock tranny might not be up to the power, but if it is, great!
And I've seen a Fiero with a 305 in it, the engine itself looked ratty, but the guy said he got it in with no problems, him and some friends did it on a weekend! About the MR2, I've just decided it would be good a few weeks ago, and am looking for more info on it. Is the SC14 just a bigger blower (I mean different pulleys). If so, where could I do this and how much? |

the stock tranny s are holding together very well with GMs ZZ4 ctare engine mated to them (400hp/430lbft).
the SC14 is the supercharger off the previa.. it has as it's named .2 of a liter more displacement to it. making it work less to produce the same power. HKS makes a boost upgrade kit that will spin the s/c faster making more boost but it has been shown to cause rotor wear and failure due to the heat generated by the additional rpm and strein. the 14 will bolt to the manifold but you'll have to fabricate bracktry to support the heavier unit so it doens't crack the intake. the stock brackets unfortunatly will not work. or you can just spin the crap out of the 12. it'll be goot to 12psi before it starts to flake and fail..but they are cheap to rebuild and easy to replace.. the failure is'nt that quick.. 15-20k with VERY hard driving and poor maintenance. |
