Looking good & can't wait to see more

In the meantime, here's another XJS pickup

Re: Jaguar XJS TWR sports UTE (pickup conversion)

Sorry, the UTE conversion I was thinking of was a Porsche 828 I spotted on E-bay some time ago.
I'd love to do a 'shooting brake' version of the XJ myself.

Not at all - your's looks great & is much more tasteful

Just found another, better pic. Turns out it was a promotional vehicle for '100+' wheels:

Re: Jaguar XJS TWR sports UTE (pickup conversion)

y'know... looking at the earlier surgery to the body, I can't shake the idea of making a mid engined xjs like the body was supposed to have....

Re: Jaguar XJS TWR sports UTE (pickup conversion)

Whoa guys....good ideas! I definitely need to buy more XJS kits now

Quick update. I put on fender flares because I need to cover really wide wheels.
Looking at it now it kind of looks like a dually truck

The rear bumper was the part that inspired me not to build this car OOB - it's just way too ugly
But hey - there is nothing a little sawing can't fix

Now there is enough space for a reasonably BIG exhaust (just mocked up)

Allrighty...next update to come soon(er or later).

Cheers
Sebastian

[EDIT] The hole in the center is for the trailer hitch.

Re: Jaguar XJS TWR sports UTE (pickup conversion)

Hi Seb,

body with widened rear fenders looks great (youŽd better think about a more aerodynamic racing version )

Rear bumper looks cleaner, maybe you should think about replacing the exhaust-tips with aluminium tubes

W-Wow, Sebastian, that's awesome! To finish off the body, perhaps you could make a wing like the one used on the Hyper widebody cars.

Re: Jaguar XJS TWR sports UTE (pickup conversion)

That rear bumper and pipe set up will look terrific

Is it just me? Those front wheels look a little "lost" in the wheel arches...?

Re: Jaguar XJS TWR sports UTE (pickup conversion)

Very interested to see the time and effort being put into this model. I live in New Zealand and in 1990 I had built from a damaged 1980 XJ-S the first ute that was ever built. I was inspired by the chevy El Camino ute with its buttress's. It feature in Jaguar Quarterly Vol 4, No 1, autumn 1991. I have attached the photos taken early on around the time it was built. I still have the ute but gone is the 5.3 V12 now with an XJ40 4 litre and 5 speed Getrag. scan0005.jpg
