You didn't mentioned any Mexicans and this is why I am asking you who are you referring to? The way you described it sounds like you're referring Mexicans to me. You did give out a few hints.

selectively answering points?
I am trying to answer (and question) the points that forward the discussion.

if there are any things you have asked that you would like a specific answer to that wouldn't have me repeating myself, please ask away.

Re: George Carlins solution to the energy crisis!

Oops this turned into a clusterfuck - I'm deleting posts that are being quoted...sorry.

Let me just end my participation in this thread by saying I am not a racist, the joke is funny if you appreciate irony.

-Drunken Monkey I have no need to ask any questions of you. You haven't made any valid points for debate. You've made a few weak comments like

"oh yeah, irish and asian imigrants are always found trying to cross the border. what border? read the news"

and

"so are you now singling out Mexicans? does that mean that when you read the original post, you automatically thought of Mexicans?"

Both of which I have responded to.

Bye. Peace.

Re: George Carlins solution to the energy crisis!

i'm still confused.
on the one hand the joke is about all illegal immigrants but then it has been said that we all know it is about mexicans/the mexican border.

which is it?

once upon a time, I used to writes nice long responses but I find that tends to confuse matters as small singular things are taken out of context.
But if you insist.

it is well know that there is a problem with the mexican border and as I refered to earlier, when this joke was original posted (at least when I first saw it) that bit of news was being reported again.
the joke was released targeting a specific group at a specific time.
no?

my second bit that you quoted:
99% percent of people who read that are going to read "illegal immigrant" and think "mexican".
not mentioning any particular race/nationality doesn't mean it isn't targeting them.
no?

The fact is that the majority of the illegal aliens cross the Mexican border and are Hispanic. Think of this as a logistics issue: You can walk from Central or South America to the US, with a few river crossings along the way. From anywhere else you have to cross a large ocean, which is obviously more difficult.

I, too, immediately thought of Hispanic illegals and the Mexican border. It's the most glaring border out there. The Canadian border also has its share of illegal immigration, but the numbers there are dwarfed by the numbers found at the southern end.

It's a serious problem, but a joke's a joke.

I'm still back there on who penned this if not George Carlin. My vote is for George Bush, he's the only one who has anything to hide.
