Yesterday was painting day! It was treated with a spray of Renault Monaco Blue (metalic) from the Halfords range, then shot with 3 coats of laquer.

I now use Autoglym stuff upon recommendation from Guiddy. In this case i will use their Super Resin Polish as there is only slight orange peel. I also use their Paint Renovator but probably not on this.

Awesome!

I know you're building this to showcase the 'ease of use' of your parts, but are you planning any other modifications, perhaps to the suspension?

Oh indeed!!!

It has to be lowered! I have made a start on modding the suspension already and will be posting pics on the method as a mini 'how-to' soon. Need to wait for the chassis to cure before i continue.

Its coming along frustratingly slow coz the shite british wether means i've been unable to finish off the body and interior with my airbrush. However i have been working on lowering the suspension and have decided on the rims - Fujimi 18" Work Meister's. This is how i have adapted them to the kit.

With some of fujimi's rims you will find a small round recess at the bottom of the tube the polycap fits into. This is perfect into which fit a peg, thus creating a Tamiya style rim. The peg itself was an uneeded part from a Megane kit which was alot wider than required at the base. It was reduced in size by fitting directly into the chuck of my Dremel and spun against a file. The diameter was checked regularly in order for the peg to fit snugly, it was secured in place with 5min epoxy.

After test fitting prior to any lowering mods taking place, it was obvious that the track would need to be narrowed. I'm never keen on chopping A arms etc to bits, so in order to tuck the wheels in slightly i modified the hubs.

At the rear, all i did was sand down the hub.

I also did the sme at the front but it wasn't enough, so i came up with this. I enlarged the hole just enough so that it still retained the poly cap, i had made things a little more tricky for myself coz i had already glued the hub together with the p-cap inside. Therefore i had to sribe this with a compas then cut away, if i knew i was going to have to do this then i could have filed the opening bigger and made life easier!

With this done i could then further modify the rims by grinding away some of the plastic around the peg. The rim now goes onto the p-cap and pushes further onto the hub.

Am i making sense? The lowering is pretty much done now but i'll post pics of that 2moro.

Very helpful! Nice spray job, I know how hard it can be to get a good job from an automotive lacquer can.

Going along nicely! You know I always wanted to put those exact rims on a S2K model after I saw this ad in my montly "Motor Trend" It was on a BFGoodrich or Bridgestone ad. The current ad has a blue skyline, I think..........
