Re: FXX...long WIP

Hello,
Nice work so far.
I'm busy building the Ejan Transkit for this, but I'm not as fast as you.
I started it a few months ago.
I really like the wheels and the work you made on the ignition.

Cheers,

Jamme

Re: FXX...long WIP

love the valve covers, especially the heat shield. Did you machine any of the metal pieces?

Re: FXX...long WIP

I did not machine any parts - waiting for Rob to warm up his mill. I am doing mostly prepwork right now - the kind that I could wait on the final assembly when I get all the parts and decals.

Re: FXX...long WIP

Ok.. another update (I know these are coming quick, but I am waiting for a lot of parts that are on their way, so it might be the last update for a few days at least)

The engine block:
The block and transmission were painted with various shades of metalizers, given a light wash and details picked out with various metallic paints:

Also the hard oil lines were added

the wash came out ok, I think.

I also added PE fuel rails from the Enzo PE sheet (one of the few engine pieces that is interchangeable)

I will wire the hard oil lines into the rear mounted oil reservoirs (along with tranny oil reservoir)

This is what it "should" look like at the end:

What do you think? Any feedback is GREATLY appreciated.

Re: FXX...long WIP

Keep the updates coming, they are really enjoyable. I was rereading your thread and I noticed that you said you were going to use mv lenses. I am interested in getting some, where do you buy yours and is there any website where you can view the range (with pics) that you know of. Thanks.

Re: FXX...long WIP

Great finish on that engine, I like a lot the colors, the shades and the washes look really great.
The fuel rails came out very good also.
I'm just curious about those oils lines from the reservoir to the engine heads, I guess they are not yet glued right? Are you going to use A/N fittings in the connections to the heads? How are you going to route them to the reservoir?

Keep us posted

Re: FXX...long WIP

Scuderia - MV lenses are in train section of the hobby store. I bought them locally, but it appears that most hobby stores that carry train/locomotive items would garry them.

Agamo - I am going to route them directly into the oil reservoir that is on top of the transmisison hub (not yet added).

Re: FXX...long WIP

First off, to have master kunta himself looking through my thread is an honer and a privelige.

I am not sure whether I mentioned this before, but this project is a collaboration between myself and another master builder that have been gracious enough to offer his skills and assistance, Mr. Robrex, himself.

Rob is working on a number of turned parts for this project and I am proud to have this photo of the parts developed:

these are hydrolic jacks for the interior. I am almost afraid to paint these jewles...

Rob promised to post a couple of in-progress pictures.

In the meantime, I am patiently waiting for this:

the set looks great and is sure to help out a lot.

Comment away... don't just browse

Re: FXX...long WIP

WOW!
Have you ever considered to put tiny sponsor decals: Crazy modeler, Robrex, Acustion, Sakatsu etcetra? LOL
You have to agree this is aftermarket galore!!!

Re: FXX...long WIP

Wow - that is gorgeous! I can't wait to see it on the model. I got my CF decals (all 9 sheets) today. So the bodywork may also begin sometime soon.
