yeah well i am friends with all of the drivers of those cars....

but it irritates me when they slap on body kits and stereos that do NOTHING but slow you down in a race, and they pretend to be streetracers

i know two are planning to get decals *shudders*, and every one of the cars mentioned will have a body kit

also, another thing that bus me is they dont pay a penny for anything. Their parents bought them the cars and accessories

Wait a minute, I think I can top this..... Now correct me if I'm wrong, but DuPont Chromalusion paint is somewhere around $200 a pint, and it takes about 4pints to paint a car properly, and Neeper seven spoke wheels are about $850 a set, factor in an array of woofers and tweeters that would've made my old band weep, and a ten dollar roll of Pep Boys window tint......

Yep, about five grand in worthless mods to a 1988 Cutlass Ciera.

Oh yeah Bryan, my friend has ridden in a WRX and he says my car handles better than a WRX because it is more stable and less jumpy at high speed cornering so:finger: . Anyway, back to the WRX, they are also butt ugly......they look like a box on wheels, you could easily mistake them for a civic 4-door if it didn't have the optional wing and/or the 17 inch tires on it. True, they are faster than most, but they are hard to drive fast because the powerband is so limited, kind of like the S2000, but that's what you get for having a turbo 4-cylinder. And even VR6 01 said he beat one of those things with his bone stock GTI, so they can't be all that great.
your friend said it handled better, what a reliable source. give me skid-pad numbers. and if you care about how it looks so much then you got the game wrong. it's a good looking car anyways but the look can always be modified. and who cares what it looks like as long as it can blow by your car at 100mph i think thats more important.

You are getting sucked in by the numbers game......numbers aren't everything.....what matters is how you feel when you drive it and how stable the car is at the limit.....I'd rather have a car that pulls .9 G's on the skidpad that won't make me break a sweat than a car that pulls 1 G on the skidpad with my arms flailing all over the cockpit while I'm pissing myself.

you're not the sharpest tool in the shed are you? you seem to care about creature comfort and the looks of your car very much. in street racing and racing in general, those dont mean shit. if you're going to actually be racing someone, you'll be concerned about weight and traction. numbers are everything, holding drivers skill. if you raced the same car as yours and you had the AC going because "what matters is how you feel when you drive it..." then you're are going to get your doors blown off.

EDIT: and if you're pissing your pants you're a pussy, if you're flailing your arms you need a 5-pt harness but then again you're not really racing like you said...

road racing, yes, street racing, it doesn't f*cking matter how your goddamn car handles. And since you think you are so f*cking tough and know everything there is to know about street racing, why don't you go build yourself a car with one seat and nothing but a chassis and a rollbar....hell you don't even need a dashboard......and brakes? naaaahhh those just slow you down, what good are they? Steering wheel.....extra weight, right? Come on, if you are in a 24 hour race.....you know.....REAL RACING.....then driver comfort is going to be a key factor, because you won't be any good if your driver is tired after three laps because his car is undrivable at the limit.

you pretty much described it. they basically have a seat and a stick, and of coarse the nessecary stuff (diff's, brakes, wheels suspension, etc etc) but they have massive weight reduction and i bet it isn't very comfortable at all, but its not about comfort, its about speed.

But that is in NHRA top fuel drag racing and shit like that. In the real world, people who are street racing drive the same cars to work, across the country, etc. etc. They can't afford to be without creature comforts (a/c, radio, brakes, etc.) because street racing isn't that big a part of their lives. I race every saturday night, but I sure as hell wouldn't strip everything off my car for the sake of being faster for just one day out of the week when it is neccessary.

If you want an all out street warrior of a car then you actually need to own two cars, 1. a comfortable daily driver and 2. the performance car of your choice.
There's no way in hell I'm going to drive all the way to work and school in a gutted out, race prepped vehicle that doesn't have so much as a cup holder. I actually sort of enjoy the best of both worlds. I have leather interior, convertible top, nice stereo system, 1 cupholder, a cold a/c, and I am still capable of a mid to low 14 in the 1/4 practically stock. and my car handles quite nicely too.
My point is, it would be kind of rediculous to drive an all-out race car as your daily driver.

yeah I wish I had that kind of money, or else I would do the same thing. I wouldn't build a drag car though, I'd take a respectible older car (I was thinking of an '81 BMW 320i or an '84 audi 4000S) and turn it into a rally car. Street dragging has seem to catch on pretty quick here, and I could always hope that rally racing would catch on the same way.
