Re: The Next Comp?

hmm, how about a competition in which you MUST have race weathering/damage (what-ever applies) on the car instead of the usual fresh from the factory look?

In my opinion, weathered/damaged cars only belong in diaramas. Where the on looker can get a full perspective of the situation. Besides, I'm not into, and I don't believe many others are either, making race cars that look like military vehicles LOL Also my opinon, the only time I would consider weathering is to cover up a crappy paint/decal job and then I would strip and repaint before weathering.

Re: The Next Comp?

I think a broader range of criteria is probably more preferable if you want a large turnout. Limiting your entries to strictly open-wheeled, tobacco/alcohol sponsored blue cars with even-numbered liveries whose driver is going to severely limit your entries. I'd personally vote for either open-wheel or alcohol/tobacco entries... both might be pushing it. Although I don't see any reason for having smaller contests throughout the year with the other criteria. My $ .02.

Re: The Next Comp?

....i suggesting weathering/damaging because the way i see, it is a theme that allows everyone to enter what they want to build as well as opening up near endless variations of dents, scratches, broken or mud encrusted what-ever you can think of for the various types of race cars.

it also allows for a relatively level playing field as well as from what i gather looking around at what the regulars post, not many people go down this route for their models.

Re: The Next Comp?

I like the idea of open-wheel racers of all ages, and maybe we can have themed prizes like best tobacco and best alcohol, in addition to the best overall?

Re: The Next Comp?

Ok, here's an idea?
How about any race vehicle that has won a race?

perhaps this has been suggested before but it would certainly allow for quite a variety of models?

Here's another idea?
Test vehicles or prototypes?

So, lets see- open wheel, orange or yellow, and alcohol/tobacco. That leaves us, what- McLarens in Marlboro, and maybe Jordans in Benson and Hedges. Sure, that's plenty of variety for everyone!!

All right, all together now- it's going to be either:
1. Open wheel. Or-
2. Tobacco/alcohol. Or-
3. Orange or red or mauve or chartruse. Or-
4. '70s. Or-
5. Whatever other single category (death, battle damage, Red Bull, Cup Noodles, winners, losers, also rans, etc.)

Pick one of the above.

All right, I didn't mean to come across quite so agressively. And it certainly wasn't intended just for you. But- only one of these schemes is going to work, and combinations will only discourage participation.

Either way, after were done throwing around ideas (and we've seen some good ones), I suspect a poll will be in order to sort out one from the rest.
