Re: This was sooooo much fun!

Gotian, I must be playing with you a little bit man. Seriously, I don't want to seem like I'm saying you don't know what your talking about...I don't drive german, my speaking credentials are limited on the subject. If your car is the real deal dude, than props for figuring out your entire ECU system on your own...that's a task most people don't have the balls to do. My roomate has an 03 Passat 1.8t and I'll be honest, he's still chuckling in the backround. We race frequently and I he's never pulled on me in any gear (I know yours is lighter). Can ya blame me for being a skeptic on the switch? I think you should run it so people like myself don't have the right to call you out...

Re: This was sooooo much fun!

One more thing, I'd feel inclined to slit my wrists if in the lane next to me was a guy running 13s on hubs...for your sake, get some rubber dude

That's something I will agree on, BTW what year is your roomates passat, that makes a big difference.

I read what year you said.....don't know what to tell you except that the passat has about 25 less WHP than mine and 10pounds of torque less. also the passats 0-60 of 7.2 compared to my STOCK of 6.2 is a very big difference.

Re: This was sooooo much fun!

just race mushashi already. we wanna get a time esimate aprox. if u beat mushashi, u can rub it in his face, how he should get a 1.8T jetta... eitherway, u both dont get traction in 1st when u launch unless mushahi has figured out how to, and u dont use the switch till after u launched...try that once, and see how it goes

I don't launch with the switch up, I did it once and I just spun my tires hot...not fun, well actually it was till the wheel hop came and that wasnt fun. But I tried with the traction on and I spun till I had to shift into 2nd, that wasnt fun.

Re: This was sooooo much fun!

His is either the 02 or 03...it's listed at 170hp stock. 10hp less than the GTI of its year. His is a 5 speed, and it's a very balanced and fun car in the corners...but he's been with me racing a GTI of that year (you can tell by the rims and blackend taillights) and I only lost to one out of 4th gear pulling over 100+ mph. I blamed that race on the roomate who weighs 240...get out of my car next time, damnt! We've tracked both of our cars together and he pulled a 15.48...I remeber because we left him messages for a week because he thought he could break 14's. His is on the same motor as yours and VW says it's only tuned down 10hp from the GTI...I'm still hesitant on your Jetta. Also Car and Driver listed the 02 GTIs at a 6.5 0-60...where did you find a 6.2 for your jetta? Please race the GTO, for the love of god, please...

Do we really think his car will beat a 400HP GTO?

Tuned down 10 at the crank, but at the wheels since it's not a sport set up like the jetta or the gti and more like the A4 it has about 25 less WHP when dynoed, so it should have about 145 WHP when compared to GTI's and 1.8t jettas that dyno at 170 stock, not to mention the gearing ratio is different between the cars aswell. The Turbo beetles for example have the same engine and have 180 HP but they get beat by the passats.

It does, you dont think so, that's your choice, but that's the way the car was designed, like the GTI

So you drive a Jetta with the 1.8T right? Not a GTI?

If Musashi lost he'd never hear the end of it.

I know some dude on another forum with a 2K+ GTI with the 1.8T engine in it. He thought that he'd run a 13 sec. pass for sure. I believe he had a turboback exhaust, CAI, and some type of chip in it. Apparently traction costed him alot. He had a horrible 2.5 sec. 60' and a high 14 sec. 1/4 mile in the low 90 mph range.

Dunno about getting 13's in that car Gotian. Not with that stock rubber on there. Maybe with some DR's and a tail wind

My guess is a 14.5 sec. 1/4 mile with a 2.3 sec. 60' time. Now stop lolligaggin and hit the track, with or without Musashi. I may know of a Buick Regal that you can race if you want to. He's lightly modded (I beat him before when he lived here in California)and would make a great run for your ride. He's a real cool guy.

right, the difference is 50 pounds, thats pretty much it. And i've taken plenty of GTI's and only lost to another jetta 1.8t before I installed this into my car, he was racing a stage 1 SRT-4 and I wanted to try my luck.

Re: This was sooooo much fun!

Slaps his forehead and retires to a slumber state...Good night gentlemen. Gotian, just track it. I have a piece of shit honda with an 'A' on the front so I can spend a little more money, and I have the paper to show a 14.93 stock (tires/clutch) and now intake. I might pull a 6.2 0-60 now...and I sure as shit can't put down 170 to the wheels, I can't master my ECU switch like you, and I don't go to sleep thinking that I can take on 400hp V8s while I ride on hub caps...In your world, I lose. Good night master

I found that the chips are a bit overrated, The owners who had chips where complaining cause they were running the mid 14's and only got on average 210 whp.
