First of all to swap in, prep ad turbo my b16a, I am only planning on spending around $7,000, My total project should cost around $12,000, and if I do everything right and get my car tuned to accept the turbo as if it was meant to be there I will be running better 1/4 mile times than most of the common american muscle cars.. corvette, mustang, camaro etc... maybe not the viper with a 100 shot tho :flash: The point is the local motorshop built a CRX with $10,000 and its best run has been a 10.5.. even a used 1991 corvette costs how much? $14,000... so lets see you get a used honda do the right mods and get it to run 1/4 times that fast... Or you buy a corvette of the same year and spend another six grand to get it to run even close to the time that crx did for twice as much.. Decisions, Decisions.. The guy at my school with a 1994 corvette that he drag races.. He has replaced the block with one that produces more torque and top end horsepower and spent $10,000 after buying the car for $23,000 to get it to run a 11.4......

yes your right.....a 350 chevy V8 that was turbo charged would be absolutely crazy ridiculous fast, it wouldn't even be able to keep tires on it.....i have trouble and mines pretty lightly modded.....but i think it's hilarious that he didn't have a turbo and the civic raped him

Dont say it would my uncle ownz a viper thatz pushing 650hp and if he took it to a dealer he'd be lucky to get 30k, and its a 98... 4 cyl can be made to rival vipers and so on, stock vipers yes they can, but slap that 100 shot on the viper like that civic has and its a whole new ballgame.. You cant compare a 10 litre engine to a 1.6 unless you have 25k to drop on the 4 cyl...

Well Well......let's totally forget the cost of buying the car

I hate it when people start with "if the other car had the same thing then it would beat it". Yeah it would, but it doesn't, so it can't. When a car has two times the cylinders that you do you need some kind of something right?

Anyway, it WAS a good kill for the civic. A kill is a kill! I'm tired of hearing if he had this and if he had that. Blah, blah, blah, it wouldn't be a race if both cars were the same. Then you hear, well, if both drivers are equally skilled. Just shup up and race!

OK WELL IF THE CIVIC HAD THE SAME SPECS AS A VETTE THE CIVIC WOULD WIN!! My point exactly. A race is a race. There are no ties, a Winner and a Loser Sorry folks, but that's the way it is!

sorry. its been said a million times and it's true, there is no replacement for displacement. you can turbo charge, make all your upgrades to a 2.0 I4, but the larger displacement engines can do the exact same thing. I'm not saying one would win either way, the civic won no contesting that, but theres no replacement for displacement. And YES it has been done. In fact ford has done this very thing:

the new mustang is a 4.7 l V8 supercharged, puts about 350 at the wheels tuned down. 5.0 magazine replaced it's air filter with a less restrictive one and gained 25rwhp. It also has DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder

the new GT40 will use a 5.4 l supercharged V8, DOHC, 4 valves per cyc, and puts out 500hp. And heres the kicker: it uses the same block as the lightning and when tuners have swapped the supercharger on the lightning for a quick-spooling turbo, they instantly gained 100hp, but given that the gt40's engine is larger displacement and already putting out more horses, the gains should be awesome.

I am in no way bashing civics, but there is no replacement for displacement it's as simple as that, and now V8s are catching the wave of technology, they've ditched the pushrods and put in DOHC's and quad cyc valves and now they're dipping into forced induction.
