Re: mustang
You're probably right, he probably doesn't even know what a wheel bearing is... but why list hubcap removal as a mod??

Re: mustang
sorry guys, my roommate is being a b^!ch and he's hogging the net, we have wireless, but he took it down because it slows the speed, so he direct-cable-connect to the modem which is un-cool for me and the other guy, anyways, to josh, i meant hubcaps for now....untill summer when i get rims, ill take pixs and hook it up in here

offtopic: just got back from the muffler shop, custom 2 1/2" piping, i kinda feel ripped off because of the price and how i lost some low end torque, i mean...i could fell it, its just not the same low end torque anymore *sigh* (car sounds decent if you're wondering) aite, pesh out |

Re: mustang
ive never heard a 4 banger with an exhaust that sounded good. Except for a the stock one. And your exhaust is way to big, just a big old waste of money and HP. You lost HP and you lost money. No way in hell a NA 1.8L 4 cylinder engine needs that big of an exhaust, i wouldnt even go that big on my 2.4L Supercharged engine.
A big exhaust will give in increase in higher RPM HP, but you lose alot of low end torque. Torque is what makes a car fast, not HP. HP is derived from TQ. Congratulations youve made your car slower |

Re: mustang
Why the hell do you need 2.5inch on a motor that small and weak? That would be like me going up to a three inch or something...you do know that some backpressure is good?

Re: mustang
^all i wanted the shop to do was weld on my universal exhaust, but the shop said because the inlet diameter of the new exhaust is bigger than my stock exhaust, the job will quote, "not right" he wants to do things the right way which is upgrading the pipes from the the cat converter all the way through, now that i look at the receipt, it says 2 1/4" piping, but the new exhaust inlet is about 2.4" so i dont know how big it truly is, i'll measure it later. But i did want to keep the stock piping because the low-end torque was great, i mean...i make maximum torque at 2800 rpms, i knew i would lose it when i upgrade the pipes, i guess i can live with it if i ever decide on turboing, and trust me when i say it sounds decent on my 1.8 4 banger, the megan exhaust helps i guess.....

also modern day 4 clyinder engines do not use back pressure to make power, they dont need back pressure at all. They work off velocity. With a small pipe while the engine is idleing the cars exhaust has a constant stream of velocity. Meaning the exhaust gases have filled the exhaust system, and are moving at a constant rate out. When you get an exhaust system that is to big, what happens is the air moves in burps. It doesnt fill the exhaust pipe all the way, so the exhaust gas gets pushed into the pipe, then it doesnt have enough pressure to get out of the pipe, so it sits there, then another wave of exhaust gas comes and pushes it a littler further and so forth untill its completly out. The problem is so many people try to apply the fluid dynamics of a V8 to a 4 banger. With a v8 you have the extra cylinders that allow for you to put a large exhaust pipe on it and not lose low end power. They fire so quickly and so much more exhuast that they dont have a problem keeping the exhaust gases moving. Not to mention they are already very torquey. Even 2.25 inch exhaust is still way to big. On your engine i wouldnt have gone any higher than a 2 inch exhuast. Even with that you would lose some low end torque, but not a whole lot, it would be made up for with a good mid-high range torque increase. |

Re: mustang
i beg to differ jayson, i've heard plenty of good sounding exhuast for 4 bangers. maybe from your neck of the woods you don't heard nice exhuast from the STi sounds awesome, my car sounds decent, and the EVO's sounds really good along with SRT-4's and the list goes on.
plus i would like to know more about the whole fluid dynamic doesn't work with modern 4 cylinder engine stuff. i always thought the reason why you don't gain power on modern 4 cylinders with an exhuast is because of the engine management unit that is not tuned for optimum power but more for smog and fuel economy so when the computer sees change in any perameters the ecu will resist the change and run more conservative timing etc. thats why modern needs a chip or reflash if you were to do bolt ons to get maximum gains.

i still think its a v6 to, but i could see how it could be a 95 5.0 or something if it did truly spin all the way through second. i dont see a 94-95 v6 being able to do that. |

Re: mustang
The 94-98 Mustangs I believe had Mustang GT in the rear bumper and just had the GT 4.6L badge on the sides.
Oh, and SR20's sound awesome under boost. ![]() http://www.bottomliner.com/zdyno.wmv
