Re: 911
Also to the original poster:
If you REALLY want to V8 a 911 go to Porschev's site. I think it's probably just Porschev.com but not sure. (As the purists cringe LOL!!) Peace everyone, gotta go to work, blah!!

Re: 911
They always have. The only real rust-buckets were the 914's and 924's. They bodies were built by VW and didn't use the same galvanizing process that Porsche used.
No porsche in the 60s and early 70s had galvanizing. Did you know the 944 was built in the same VW plant as the 924, but it had galvanizing. Hence the VW plant had galvanizing eguipment.

Re: 911
914s had 4cyl and 6cyl engines in them, the VW 1.7ltr 1.8ltr and 2.0ltr in 4cyl form, the 2.0ltr later being used in the 912E. they also offered a de-tuned 911T 2.0 6cyl engine and called it the 914/6 of which 3353 was made. they also made two others experimental variations as well, the 916 powered by the 2.4ltr 190bhp flat6 from the 911T and the sporting 911S, it had bulging wheel arches, and a fixed roof instead of the regular model's lift off "targa" panel. A high projected price led porsche to drop the idea after only 20 were built. Less radical in appearance but stronger of heart was the 914/8 with the 310-bhp 8cyl engine from the racing 908. Only a handful were built, all in 1969. Among them was the 60th-birthday "present" for ferry Porsche.

Re: 911
the 924 was galvanized, as all porsche's built after 75 was, and the 924 and 944 was built by audi at Neckarsulm.
