Re: '01 Rodeo V6 gas guage acting funny

Chris,
I just went through this a few months ago. perhaps Isuzu started making the sending unit available, but it was NOT available as a second component for the 2001, as recent as a few months ago.

that said, I would say don't block out a whole weekend to fix the thing until you have the actual part in hand. I'm still not convinced.

good luck,
Joe

ps I sold my Isuzu for a Tundra that could pull my boat. I think my Rodeo also had a bad fuel pressure regulator...very uneven acceleration, even after the new fuel pump

Re: '01 Rodeo V6 gas guage acting funny

Anyone give me the current optimum supplier for a fuel level sensor? Rock Auto does not appear to carry one.

Also, any thoughts on changing the fuel pump at the same time? I am inclined to NOT change it, as it seems pretty easy to drop the tank on this vehicle.

You have to pull the whole pump to get to the sending unit. If you have 156k on the original pump it might be worth swaping out the whole unit...

Re: '01 Rodeo V6 gas guage acting funny

I read from the new pump manufacturer that they recommend either a tank pressure wash or a new tank (!) when the fuel pump is replaced. What is the general consensus on needing to do this? Sounds good, but if they mention a new tank I am thinking it may be a difficult job (Baffles, etc).

You can get a new sending unit for your tank here...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

In the forum there is a page about how to install... about 2 hrs with simple tools.
