Re: Skyline Prototype!!

well, cosworth helped make the new VQ for the skyline, so I think Nissan knows what they are doing. Top Secret also claims that the VQ fully built has more potential than an RB, and they make hp numbers in the quadtruple digits. With Cosworth's magic, maybe we will forget what the RB even is.

so did the RB. the RB was capable of over 600 horse on a stock block, and well over 1300 built. the iron block was strong as all hell...yet it was also very heavy.

and to you guys saying "ITS NOT A SKYLINE WITHOUT AN RB!@!@! OH NOES@!@!#@@"

skylines didnt always use the RB, nor i-6's. hell...some where 4 cyl.

The first GTR was a 1998cc, dual overhead cam I-6 that made 160hp. This was in 1969, one year after the brand name of the car was changed from Prince to Nissan. So the history of the GTR starts with an I-6. Nice try though. Like I said, nothing against the VQ, just wish they would stay with an I-6 motor. Oh well.

The history of the Corvette starts with an I-6. Your Point is?

The VQ is a better engine all around. its lighter, its a V so the polar moment of the vehicle will be less, the VQ30 is extremely smooth, and its been on the best engineered motors list since it came out.

The Corvette was an I-6 for a couple years but quickly changed to a V8 I can't remember the year of the first V8 Vette but it was mid 50's. The first couple Skylines were I-4's, but the first GTR was an I-6. I like I-6 motors better than V6's.

Re: Skyline Prototype!!

i believe the first v8 in a corvette was 57' but this is completely irrelevant, as the v6 the corvette was debut with in 53' was grossly underpowered, and the corvette name was almost erased...then in 57 the came out with the v8 and became the all mighty roadster it was...any who....enough of a history lesson...I like the VQ...

hmmm...

Why would all the Nissan JGTC cars go to a VQ engine over the RB man...It couldnt be that the almighty I-6 has lost to the roxoring V6. I dont see why the engine being a V or I configuration is making a huge difference in how much sleep you get. Besides you saying man the I6 was the symbol of Japanese MUCSLEsdajklgahkj!!!1!

BTW...check out the toyota forum there are some Spy shots of the New Supra on the Nurburing.

If you're going to give a history lesson, let it be accurate. The Corvette had a Inline 6, not a V6.
