Re: Aftermath of Katrina. How much for gas?

Economists are worried about a supply side shock in a macroeconomic sense. Energy makes up a huge component of Aggregate Supply and this kind of shock can trigger Stagflation or when prices rise (inflation) but GDP decreases (recession).

As long as commercial companies own the Oil we'll never have control over the price.
The sad part about it is that allot of people are suffering or dead and the price of Oil has distracted us.
I'm not religious but I pray for New Orleans and all the people there.
And look at the F**king mess our governments have got us in now.

Re: Aftermath of Katrina. How much for gas?

Sure put government in charge of oil,, maybe they can do such a good job with that like they have done with public housing? supply isnt the problem,, we need refineries. (sp) everyone wants one just not in their back yard..Bushes engery plan calls for new ones built on closed military bases,, I like that idea,, Florida wont let us drill off shore due to enviroment concerns,, wheres the best place to fish offshore? (oil rigs!) When was the last time you ever heard of a oil rig having a spill in the last 30 years? even with all the hurricanes,,hasnt happened... drill AK 93% of the residents near there say they want it! Oh ya Birmingham, AL all near $3.00-3.19 for the cheap stuff! was 2.47 two days ago!!!

Well sure thats part of the whole scam as long as the demand is greater than the supply they can charge what ever the hell they want for it.
The government had their chance and they did screw it up thats why they don't have any control over the oil.
I just think whats happening with Katrina is an other example of how governments have lost focus on what there actual job is "protected the people"
example: ban herbal remedies yet sell people cigarettes.whose in control there the gov or drug companies?
Remember this is coming from someone who has lost total faith in the gov.

Re: Re: Re: Aftermath of Katrina. How much for gas?

Its looks like the situation is starting to stabilize in my area. West Texas - El Paso. On average we are at:

$2.94 for reg.
$3.04 for mid-grade
$3.14 for premium

Some state governmental officials are getting into the act and have stated that price gouging will not be tolerated and retailers taking advantage will be investigated under the consumer protection laws of the state.

According to the news, at least 50,000 of the refugees impacted by Katrina are being taken in to Texas to Houston and San Antonio.

It's ironic that the sovereign State of Texas bails out the Union (Feds) again.

I saw your Buddy Bush on TV last night he says
If you don't need gas don't buy it "Thats absolutely brilliant"
Why didn't we think of that.

Gas here today is $1.34 per litre

1.34 x 3.785 = $5.07cnd / 1.25 = $4.05usd

They take and extra hit on us because its Friday before the long weekend it will probably come down on Tuesday.

lol. He ain't my Buddy.

I'm surprised that Canadian TV even shows his mug. You guys up North are already P.O. 'd at him enough as it is. As a former soldier, I'm apolitical so I really don't care who the Commander in Chief is as long as it isn't Jimmy Carter. Even wild Bill Clinton was cool in some respect.

Ya well our jokers are still out of parliament for holidays.
I wouldn't want to be in New Orleans Mayors shoes, at least he isn't afraid to speak up.
I was in New Orleans last year had a hell of a time there from what I hear.
When ever the ladies come over I put a little Zydeco on it works magic every time
.
I here ya about Clinton he can come to my house any time not sure if I'd take one of his cigars though.
Might have to twist him up a big fatty.

Re: Aftermath of Katrina. How much for gas?

Gas will probably drop back down tomorrow.

NYMEX oil futures as of 229 PM are trading @ 67.57
NYMEX Unleaded gas futures are trading @ 2.18

It was near $3 a gallon a couple days ago if I recollect correctly. Oil has dropped $2.50 since it's highs.

Zydeco? Isn't that Cajun-Folk genre music?

Just make sure wild Bill keeps his pants on....lol.

I really wonder what kind of car he drives. Bush probably drives a pickup truck.

This is my opinion, and I will speak my mind.Bush has made to many costly mistakes that were paying for right now.You can say want you want about President Bill Clinton, but he was very articulate in foreign diplomacy.Bush has none whatsoever. This administration has made huge profits by hiring there own inner circle for the rebuilding process in Iraq, which we will pay for in the long run. What has Bush done for this country.Let's give more tax breaks to the rich, and outsource more jobs. What a genius.Lets spread diplomacy through out the middle east.Who cares if the have been fighting over lines in the sand for 2000 years.

Why don't we ask for "OIL" for all the work and construction that is being done in Iraq.I know that rebuilding is a part of war,but alot of money is being spent on there schools, government, and structure of there country. How about,"WE WILL WORK FOR OIL".Wait! that wont work either.Remember the oil for food program, that was first started in Iraq.It turned into greed, and money to line back pockets.

My prayers go out to all the people in the aftermath of Katrina. It makes your every day problems seem trival.

Gas in Ohio 3.10 - 3.39 as of 9-3-05.

Re: Aftermath of Katrina. How much for gas?

Average prices in my area are still stable at:

$2.94 for reg.
$3.04 for mid-grade
$3.14 for premium

Hopefully, the prices drop after the Labor Day weekend.

As far back as I can remember at least to when LBJ was in office gas has gone up and not down. The highest increases were during the Clinton, Bush I and Bush II administrations. We can all thank Jimmy Carter because he's the one who had the oil-industry de-regulated. I say let history decide and be the judge.

It is GREED. They don't call it "Black Gold" for nothing. Plus it doesn't help driving a SUV that only gets 10 mpg. There are more SUVs and pick up trucks on the road today than cars.

BTW - El Paso, Texas is taking in at least 750 of the Katrina refugees and preparing for up to 5,000.

Bush owns a couple full sized (FULL SIZED) ford f-series trucks.

Iowa gas is 2.89 for 89, 2.99 for 85.

I was reading around, from what i understand, any engine can run on straight 150-180 proof alcohol, the only problem is the fuel injection systems can't detect the fuel being put in and can't time air/fuel mixtures. The newer vehicle with E85 compatiblity have chips to detect fuel and time mixtures accordingly. Anyone know if i'm getting this right? If so, whats keeping me from making an alcohol still in my backyard?

Re: Aftermath of Katrina. How much for gas?

i think its still against the law to hav a stil in your yard. If the metering was the case, you could mix the alcohol with gasoline. I hav ran motorcycles and gokarts with alkihol and grain alcohol like Everclear(190proof) it gives it alot of pep and vigar! also gets the motor realy hot, but a 50/50 mix still gives P & V. I'm sure its not good on the motor none the less, but it sure is fun.LOL!

I'd like to put sugar in Bush's gastank. Lmao!
