Re: whats ur gas mileage

Well I really havent ben monitoring it, But there is an off ramp I take on the way home, going up the on-board computer shows 8-10mpg but when I get to the top if I take my foot of the gas on the way down I get 99mpg if i could go down hill all the way home I would save enough to pay for going to work and i would only have to buy gas once a month or so.

Re: whats ur gas mileage

2004 Grand Cherokee. Inline 6.
During my move from Indiana to Utah. I averaged around 25 mpg. Now that I'm here in Utah. I'm getting 17 to work and 43 home. The 2500 Vert Climb Kills me on the way up, but I love the way down. But really I'm getting around 28 out here in the High Country.

Re: whats ur gas mileage

2002 overland V8 High Output. 24 mpg freeway cruising at 75mph cross country trip. Average mixed city/freeway 15.5 mpg.

Getting ready to go across country again, but this time pulling a 6X12 Uhaul trailer. Will update after that one. Will be interesting to see the difference. Going the same route and the previous cross country trip/

Re: whats ur gas mileage

I can only imagine what going up the rockies will do heading into CO. Going through the plains will be a piece of cake.

How did the brakes handle keeping it under control going down the mountain? Did you slow down and put it into a lower gear?

Re: whats ur gas mileage

It pulled the trailer with hesitation, and the trailer had a surge brake on it. I'll be honest at time I would forget I was pulling it. I kept it out of overdrive the whole time due to the fact that I dont have the transmission cooler. I basically used the transmission to slow down in the moutains for the most part. Aside from the fuel consumption it was a piece of cake and a good experiance. i bought the Jeep with the 4.7 so that I could tow a decent size hybrid rv.You will have no problems with that H.O. I was told that on straight aways you can even use O.D. Especially if you have the tow package...hope I was helpful

Re: whats ur gas mileage

You were very helpful. I do have the tow package and the tranny cooler. Everything I read and hear is to always turn off the OD when towing. It's a lease and I'm turning it in mid August so probably won't affect me put put the strain on the drive terrain, but I would hate to do that to the next person who owns it.

This will be my last Jeep for a while. Second one and both had some issues just after warranty expires.
