Re: 05 tC vs. 04? Grand Am GT

Actually, I was more interested in having a car with the legendary 3400/hydramatic combo tricked out with the ram air intake and performance axle. Those 3400's and hydramatics last forever and are as dependable as engines and transmissions get. Good looks, dependable, economical, excellent ride and handling, good size, oodles of features, moves pretty good...what's there not to like? Oh, I forgot. It's made by GM and you gotta hate everything GM makes in order to fit in with the "In" crowd these days.

He said he was racing a Grand Am GT with 5 kids in it in the street and wonders why he couldn't pull more than half a car length on it. He did this on a public street, and admitted that he got up to 90 MPH. Not to many 4 lane roads with controlled intersections and that kind of speed limit. Nobody drives their car to highly illegal speeds on public roads thinking, "holy shit i cannot lose to this car that is loaded with punk asses" if they DON'T think their car is fast.

I think that just about explains it all.

For the record, I don't laugh at people driving a Neon, I feel sorry for them. It's something called empathy. After spending my fair share of time behind the wheel of a Neon, I know what it's like. I would never laugh at someone less fortunate than I. Unless you have short legs and long arms to fit with the Neon's ergonomics (or the lack thereof) and don't care a thing for refinement or style, it's really not the kind of car you'd want to be driving every day year after year.

Still, if all I could afford is a Scion tC and dreamed about being a boy racer on the streets beating Grand Am GT's left and right to the next intersection, I think the SRT-4 would be a better choice. It wouldn't be so difficult to beat a refined family sedan then.

yes, thats me, the boy racer with the scion tC
people(myself) dont buy tC's to race or because they are fast
but because they are good overall cars

Re: 05 tC vs. 04? Grand Am GT

see mr. luos drives a ws6 great fast car with a good size trunk........something to brag about and if he wanted to talk down about other cars he could pull it off........but digital quirk drives a grand am the greatest car in the world.....hardly......which is nothing to brag about....and definately doesnt make any sense to talk down on any other car when you drive a pos like that......lol

Lets keep it clean guys... and try not to bash others and their choice in rides, no matter what you may think of it.

Well technically, you could think your car is slow, but just think that the other car is even slower

The Camry, Altima, and Accord are also good cars, in the same class as the Grand Am GT, and were cars I also considered when replacing my lowly neon. I also accept that there are cars that are better, like the Maxima, Grand Prix GTP, Monte Carlo SS...and even cars better than them as you get into the realm of Cadillac, Lexus, etc. People like different cars for different reasons. Clearly, the only thing that matters to you is going from 0-60 as fast and cheap as possible. Since I don't live anywhere near a track and street racing is illegal, I looked for more in a car. That's all.
