The 427 SOHC Cammer was in the A/FX MODIFIED Mustangs as 1966 models, sold in 1965 not 1968. The 427 Cammer engine is the most powerful engine Ford made. They made 616bhp @ 7500rpms with the single 4 barrel carb, and with the dual 4 barrel carbs, it made 657bhp@7500 rpms. Both versions made 550+lbs of torque. The engine was abandoned in 1966. This engine was also race only. It never made it into a street driven car. They only made about 4 dozen of those engine too.... The engines was sold seperately from the car, and only to race teams.

Re: What kind of engine do i have?

most people that drive newer cars that drive everyday and take them on the track during weekends just have the same engine the car came with just a lil modified.

I'm not sure what you mean, but as far as daily driver to the drag strip, most of my friends and I take our normal 4.6L mustangs and run.....

It used to me more 5.0L engines, but I have noticed those being outnumbered by the modulars lately. BTW, I'm talking about daily drivers.

i know for a fact that a less powerful version of the 427 was in the 1968 mustang. you could probably find some info on it.

they got rid of it after that year though because not many people bought it.

i was talking about it being in a stock mustang also, not a modified one. neat info tho... i didnt know that they made those.

another side note... on if there are differences between the 3 motors, the 428 and 429 were also completely seperate designs. in the mustangs the 428 actually outperformed the 429, but the 429 was tuned down quite a lot, the only reason ford put that motor in mustangs was so they could use it in nascar. the nascar version was very powerful.
